Location - South Leeds, this covers the Leeds, Wakefield, Normanton areas.

Working Type: These are permanent opportunities working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Once fully trained, you will be expected to participate in an operational standby rota, which involves out of hours working.

Where you fit in: As our Water Quality Sampling Officer you will:

  • Comply with all the requirements of the WQ Sampling procedures, QMS and ISO17025 accreditation.
  • Ensure that all sampling is conducted on water treatment works and distribution assets as per request or as dictated by the regulatory sampling programme.
  • Collect a range of different water quality samples at different process stages for dispatch and analysis at a central lab.
  • Carry out random customer sampling as part of the regulatory sampling programme.
  • Help to resolve customers issues as and when needed and report those that cannot be resolved immediately.
  • Identify and report anything that may compromise compliance to the Regulatory Sampling Programme such as observations that could pose a threat to public health.
  • Liaise effectively with other relevant personnel including Water Quality Scientists, Production Engineers and Field Technicians regarding any additional sampling required or to highlight site issues.
  • Report and mitigate Health Safety and/or security issues.
  • Comply with company lone working policy.
  • Operate and interrogate corporate systems, such as Advantex, RTS, Odyssey and Lab Systems as required.
  • Identify the leadership behaviours required in your role and for your team utilising the Responsible Leader Framework.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Develops and maintains effective internal relationships, has a good teamwork focus and customer relations.
  • Basic IT skills in Office and email packages with willingness to learn.
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service and resolution of customer contacts.
  • Understand potable water quality procedures.
  • Experience of working in a procedural and regulated environment.
  • Holds full valid driving licence and understands the challenges of occupational driving.
  • Self‑motivated and able to manage workload independently.
  • Ability to work at heights and within enclosed spaces.
  • Good sense of smell and taste for on‑site testing.
  • Basic understanding of water treatment operations and distribution systems.

You will also benefit from having:

  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process, or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Proficient knowledge of corporate systems.
  • Previous experience of working in a quality or sampling role.
  • An understanding of Water Quality Regulations.
