Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week. Important Note: You\’ll be required to work a minimum of 3 nights in a 4-week period.
DMA – Distribution Monitored Area
DMA Trainee Leakage Inspectors will work alongside Leakage Inspectors to proactively investigate \’Distribution Monitored Areas\’ using acoustic detection equipment to identify, pinpoint and promote leaks on our distribution network to our service partners for repair. Your Journey Begins Here!!
With some of the Trainee positions, you will work in the field and classroom to work towards a Level 3 Diploma in Water Network – Leakage. This comprehensive qualification combines classroom learning with hands-on field assessments, preparing you for success.
Successful completion of the traineeship includes the minimum of a pass at end point assessment within two years of starting the Apprenticeship (which is the apprenticeship start date). This includes assessments of knowledge, skills and behaviours detailed within the Apprenticeships standard, all of which must be met and agreed by the training provider and line manager within Yorkshire Water before being put forward for End Point Assessment.
The successful completion of the traineeship will include meeting the knowledge, skills and behavioural requirements of the Apprenticeship standard and internal expectations plus the successful completion of the end point assessment.

- Learn detection and investigation techniques without impacting on the wider water network
- Prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
- Master leakage detection methods, including, sounding, correlating, step testing and acoustic logging.
- Learn how to differentiate water usage from leakage.
- Work with new and groundbreaking leakage technologies and equipment
- Develop a wide range of water industry skills through our Yorkshire Water Training Academy
- Gain proficiency in corporate systems.
- Develop an understanding of the clean water network, from source to tap.
- Work as part of a team of experienced Leakage Inspectors.
- Work with other key stakeholders across the Business.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Willingness to work unsociable hours (nights and weekends).
- Full EU driving license with a maximum of 6 points.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to our company values and behaviours.
- Passion for exceptional customer service.
- Proficiency in corporate systems and IT applications.
- Grade 4 (C GCSE) or equivalent (can be a functional skills qualification) in maths and English language (proof of qualifications required)
