We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Specialist Team Leader - Asbestos to join the Asset Delivery Contracted Maintenance Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
What we do: We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, ensuring that over 5.4 million people can rely on our services for clean and safe drinking water and effective wastewater management. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to manage Yorkshire's water sustainably.
Where you fit in: As our Technical Specialist Team Leader - Asbestos you will:
- Act as Appointed Person for Asbestos management within Yorkshire Water as stipulated within Regulation 4 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012.
- Ensure compliance with all areas of the Health and Safety guidance and relevant parliamentary acts.
- Provide leadership and management to a team of YWS Asbestos Inspectors.
- Own the specification for any Asbestos tender process.
- Monitor the performance of contractors against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Provide representation for YW at contract review meetings and contractual dispute resolutions.
- Audit the work of the contractor through on-site technical audits and quality control audits.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Minimum 2 years relevant experience within Asbestos management.
- British Occupational Hygiene Society - W504 minimum qualification or equivalent.
- IOSH Managing Safely Qualification or equivalent.
- Experience in the preparation of Management Policies in line with associated HSG documentation.
- Stakeholder engagement experience.

- Experience in writing detailed technical specifications for contracted services.
- A thorough understanding of the CDM regulations.
- Proven ability in auditing and quality checking of contracted activities.
- Working knowledge of MS Project Manager or another recognised PM software.
