Work type: Permanent & 9 Month Fixed Term Contract. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

We have 2 exciting opportunities (1 x permanent and 1 x 9 Month Fixed Term Contract) for Street Works Specialists to join the Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Where you fit in:

As our Street Works Specialist you will

  • Maintain excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
  • Ensure strong performance and compliance of YW and its contractors in relation to street works legislation and associated codes of practice (e.g. the \’Red Book\’)
  • Provide technical and legislative knowledge and advice on all Street Works matters to both YW teams and contractors throughout the business.
  • Support improvement activity required to improve performance or maintain compliance.
  • Facilitate the effective delivery of YW operations by working with YW stakeholders, contractors and local authorities.
  • Safeguard YW\’s commercial interests by appropriately challenging fines, charges, fees, and related street works costs.
  • Accurately report financial and performance data in relation to YW\’s street works activities and identify opportunities for improvements and efficiencies.
  • Engage with peers across the industry (e.g. WASCs, other utilities, trade associations, local authorities, etc.) to share best practice and understand the changing regulatory landscape.
  • Ensure YW understands its obligations/risks/opportunities in relation to Streetworks activity.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Understands YW\’s regulatory framework and performance targets.
  • Understands and has experience working with streetworks legislation and codes of practice (NRSWA, Red Book, SRoH etc.)
  • Can help others understand complex laws/regulations/codes of practice.
  • Has experience reporting on and analysing financial data.
  • Can confidently engage with and influence internal and external stakeholders.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
  • Understanding of lane rental charges

You will also benefit from having:

  • Experience of using Street Manager
  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
