We have an exciting opportunity for a Smart Metering Contract and Delivery Manager to join the Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers and deliver the largest smart metering programme over the next 5 years.
As our Smart Metering Contract and Delivery Manager you will be responsible for managing the smart metering contract and installing 1.4m smart meters across AMP8. Acting as the lead point of contact for the contract partners (Netmore, MGroup, Itron and Diehl) and holding responsibility for the management of the overall contract partner relationship. You will need to work with MGroup to oversee the day-to-day delivery of the meter installations to cost and quality, ensure the partners are hitting the KPI performance and work with Netmore to rectify any underperformance.
As our Smart Metering Contract and Delivery Manager you will:
- Oversee the AMP8 smart metering contract, ensuring seamless collaboration among all partners to deliver over 1500-meter exchanges per day.
- Own and manage the meter rollout plan with MGroup and Netmore, ensuring installation volumes meet Ofwat Price Control Deliverable requirements and addressing any variances promptly.
- Implement and maintain smart metering project governance using appropriate project management frameworks.
- Work with MGroup to ensure excellent customer service throughout the install journey.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, conducting lessons learned sessions to address and fix issues as they arise.
- Ensure all meter installations meet the required standards through rigorous quality assurance processes.
- Work closely with the Programme Management Office to ensure the project remains on budget and identify opportunities for efficiencies.
- Collaborate across the business to deliver the benefits of Smart Meters into business operations.
- Share learnings across wider water industries and build into continuous improvement practices.
- Manage a team to support the delivery of the programme, driving high standards of health and safety compliance across all activities.
- Work with the metering team to embed the Smart Meter triage process to ensure high standards of connectivity in line with PCD standards.
- Delivery of the post installation maintenance process, utilising smart meter data to proactively maintain Smart Meters across their lifecycle.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Multiple years relevant experience at a management level in Smart Metering, Project Management or Contract Management, in a regulated utility environment.
- Ability to work with autonomy and make operational risk based decisions, considering cost and consequence of options.
- Financial awareness ideally within a regulated environment or within a large scale Project Delivery.
- Experience creating and leading a team to deliver a large scale programme.
- Experienced in supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
- Experience of managing relationships with consultants and contract partners.
- Experienced in leading highly successful teams.
- Full UK Driving License.
- A blend of operational and contractual management experience, and linked to this an understanding of the workings of service based contracts and the trade-off between commercial and operational priorities.
You will also benefit from having:
- Knowledge and experience of Clean water assets and smart metering technologies.
- Relevant Contract Management qualification (e.g. NEC).
- Previous experience in regulated environment, e.g. gas, power, water, telecoms.
- Understanding of the legislative and regulatory framework within which YW operates.
- Proficiency with wider databases and data management technologies SQL, SAP Business Objects, Power BI etc.
