We have an exciting opportunity for a Smart Asset Engineer to join the Water Service Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. Could this be you?

Water Service Delivery are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

This role is central to understanding and improving the health of Yorkshire Waters Clean Infrastructure assets. Youll be responsible for developing and delivering smart, resilient solutions that enhance asset visibility, accuracy, and operational efficiency. From meters and control valves to pumping stations, service reservoirs, and treatment works, youll help ensure our water networkfrom source to tapdelivers safe, clean water with the highest quality and lowest levels of leakage and mains bursts. By interrogating existing systems and data, youll identify opportunities for dynamic maintenance and strategic investment, driving a smarter, more agile approach to asset management.

Where you fit in:

As our Smart Asset Engineer you will

  • Lead the maintenance and optimisation of clean water assets, ensuring performance and reliability across the network.
  • Increase asset visibility by integrating data into our Strategic Data Platform, supporting smarter decision-making.
  • Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) on pressure transients to identify causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Manage 3rd party contractors to deliver timely PRV maintenance, improving asset performance and reducing failure risk.
  • Develop and deliver capital solutionsfrom small-scale fixes to large infrastructure projectsacross clean water assets.
  • Act as the technical authority for Netbase changes, ensuring infrastructure hierarchy is accurately maintained.
  • Drive smart, city-wide pressure management initiatives, enhancing network resilience and supporting business plan targets.
  • Champion risk-based strategies for the upstream network, categorising trunk mains and implementing tailored management solutions.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Full UK Driving License
  • Technical/Engineering Qualification and/or significant Technical Experience within Water Distribution.
  • Ability to work with autonomy and make operational decisions
  • Ability to influence, challenge and manage expectations of external stakeholders
