Work type: We are looking for a Scheduler to join the Central Control team in Yorkshire Water. This is a permanent role, working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm.
As Scheduler you will play a key role in the creation & administration of work schedules for field team members to meet operational needs in respect of planned and reactive work activities. You will be responsible for managing the schedules, using Yorkshire Water systems and principles to schedule work to maximise productivity, liaising with the Planners, Field teams and Triage when required.
What we do: Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it's so much more than this. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire's water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region's health, wellbeing, and prosperity. New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry.
Where you fit in: You will play a key role in the creation & administration of work schedules for field team members to meet operational needs in respect of planned and reactive work activities. You will provide Yorkshire Water customers with a first-class service. You will speak to customers to keep them informed of their work (confirming that it's scheduled in and providing an estimated time of arrival). You will liaise with the Field team when required and help maximise work productivity. You will be responsible for day-to-day jeopardy management, making decisions to align with our goal for effective work completion on first time visits, our service commitments and escalate as appropriate. You will proactively manage work in daytime hours to reduce standby requirement and triage reactive high priority work. You will regularly discuss the plan, schedule and workbasket with the wider Triage, Planning and Scheduling team, Technical Planning, Operational and Maintenance Managers, noting any risks or blockers.
What skills and qualifications you will need: You will develop and maintain effective internal and external relationships with a range of key stakeholders. You will effectively problem solve under pressure and find innovative ways to overcome complex business challenges. Strong IT skills as you will be using a range of IT systems. Able to influence and negotiate. Excellent organisational and communication skills. Rigorous attention to detail to ensure right first time performance.
You will also benefit from having: Experience in the use of IT packages to plan large volumes of work (SAP understanding), although full training will be provided. Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it's important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life. We know that juggling childcare responsibilities or getting that ideal work/life balance isn't always easy!
