Company description: Water Utility Company based in Yorkshire region of England.

We offer a competitive salary (Salary Band 3b) of up to £60,000 depending on experience. Location: This role will initially be based in Foxbridge Logistics Centre in Normanton but we're moving our Logistics Centre to Leeds Valley Park in winter 2026, so you'll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (2-3 days office a week Bradford/Leeds). Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Contracted Maintenance Manager to join the Asset Maintenance department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

As our Contracted Maintenance Manager, you'll lead a team responsible for delivering contracted maintenance across Yorkshire Water's operational assets. From water treatment works and pumping stations to wastewater facilities and network infrastructure, you'll help ensure our assets remain safe, compliant, reliable and efficient. Working closely with operational teams, engineering specialists, procurement colleagues and supply chain partners, you'll develop maintenance strategies that support long-term asset health, regulatory compliance and value for customers. You'll play a key role in making sure the right contractors, frameworks and processes are in place to support the delivery of high-quality maintenance services across our water and wastewater operations.

You'll be a key member of the Maintenance Support team, leading both people and performance across contracted maintenance activities. This is a highly collaborative role where you'll work with colleagues across Asset Delivery, Operations, Engineering, Commercial Services and Procurement to ensure maintenance programmes are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with regulatory requirements.

You will:

  • Manage maintenance budgets and support effective financial planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement to help improve asset reliability, operational performance and customer outcomes.
  • Help ensure Yorkshire Water continues to provide resilient water and wastewater services for the communities we serve.

  • Experience leading teams and creating a positive, inclusive working environment.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety management within operational or engineering environments and a genuine commitment to safety, compliance and operational excellence.
  • Experience managing maintenance contracts, suppliers or framework agreements.
  • Experience leading teams within utilities, engineering, maintenance, asset management or operational environments.
  • Experience overseeing contractor performance and holding suppliers accountable for delivery.
  • Experience managing budgets and making informed commercial decisions and delivering value for money.
  • Experience delivering safe and compliant maintenance programmes.
  • Experience building strong partnerships across a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
  • The confidence to challenge where needed while maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

You will also benefit from having:

  • Experience working within the water, wastewater, utilities or regulated infrastructure sector.
  • Knowledge of asset management principles and maintenance planning.
  • A technical background in an engineering discipline.
  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent health and safety training.
  • Experience managing statutory maintenance programmes.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes, contract governance and supplier performance management.
