Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we are moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in September 2026, so you'll be based there in the future. Permanent contract, working full time, on average 37 hours per week Monday-Sunday. You are employed in this role on an annualised hours contract which totals 1929 hours per year, e.g. an average of 37 hours per week. Your normal attendance days and daily hours will be in accordance with the operational shift rota; the rota will either be a 12hr/365-day cover or a 24hr / 365-day cover.

As a Duty Operations Coordinator you will play a key role in protecting customers and the environment by coordinating operational responses across the wastewater network. You'll support the Wastewater Duty Operations Engineer in delivering operational excellence through effective planning, incident management and resource coordination, while maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety, regulatory compliance, environmental protection and the delivery of Yorkshire Water's Performance Commitments.
- Coordinate responses to high-priority, complex and emergency wastewater incidents, including pollution events, flooding, blockages and asset failures.
- Use operational data, risk information and network intelligence to prioritise, plan and coordinate activities across wastewater assets.
- Continually seek opportunities to improve planning processes, incident management activities and ways of working to enhance performance and efficiency.
- Coordinate field and service partner resources, ensuring work is appropriately prioritised, optimised and delivered in line with agreed service levels.
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams, service partners and key stakeholders to ensure joined-up delivery and consistent performance.
- Provide operational support across the Control Room, helping to maintain service continuity and effective incident coordination.
- Be environmentally conscious in all decision-making, considering the impact on customers, wastewater networks, receiving watercourses and the wider environment.
- Ensure all work is validated, risk-assessed, prioritised and jeopardy-managed before allocation to operational teams, service partners or out-of-hours resources.
- An ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver a high level of service while coordinating incidents, planned activities and operational demands across the wastewater network.
- Able to remain calm under pressure, making sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment where customer, environmental and regulatory risks must be carefully managed.
- Excellent customer service skills, with an understanding of the importance of minimising disruption and delivering positive outcomes for customers and communities.
- Good team-working skills, collaborating effectively across control room functions, field operations and support teams to deliver a resilient 24/7 service.
- Strong organisational and planning skills, ensuring work is prioritised, risk-assessed and delivered efficiently in line with business objectives.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach, taking ownership of issues and identifying opportunities to improve performance, efficiency and service delivery.
