We have an exciting opportunity for an Undergraduate Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering Team. We offer a competitive salary, depending on experience, £27,051. Location: Western house, Bradford (moving to Leeds Valley Park between September and December of 2026) with Hybrid working when required at site visits across the Yorkshire Water asset base throughout the Yorkshire Region. Work type: Fixed term – 9‑12 months. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

The Mechanical Engineering Team are one of the teams within the Engineering Section within Yorkshire Water’s Asset Delivery Business Unit. They are responsible for the assurance of regulatory compliance, the generation of engineering strategy, policy and standards, as well as delivering business-wide initiatives & projects. Should you be successful, you will provide support to the team of 10, comprising of Engineers, Technicians, Project Managers forming the Mechanical Engineering Team.

What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Currently midway through a BEng Mechanical Engineering or equivalent, having successfully completed years 1 and 2.
- An understanding of how the mechanical discipline within a wider engineering discipline/environment can support a regulated business.
- Experience of developing and maintaining effective internal and external relationships.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Experience of projects and partnership working.
- The ability to demonstrate the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
You will also benefit from having:
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
- Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process manufacturing industry sectors.
- Completion of BEng course units with a focus on material science, fluid mechanics and system control.
