Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future / Hybrid Working.
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Connections and Alteration Team Manager to join the Developer Services team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

Developer Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Putting people at the heart of everything we do, this role leads a technically focused team responsible for delivering end-to-end wastewater connection and alteration journeys for domestic customers, developers and other key stakeholders, owning customer satisfaction from application through to completion. It is accountable for ensuring all connection and alteration activity is technically compliant, safe and commercially effective within regulatory timescales, while actively managing customer expectations, communications and outcomes, and protecting Yorkshire Water assets to ensure future network performance is not compromised.
Where you fit in: As our Connections and Alteration Team Manager you will:
- Be accountable for end to end customer satisfaction and experience across the wastewater connections and alterations journey, ensuring timely, clear and proactive communication at every stage.
- Use customer insight, feedback and performance data to drive continuous service improvement and operational change.
- Lead, oversee and make decisions on all wastewater connection and alteration activities, safeguarding Yorkshire Water assets and the integrity of the wider network.
- Provide leadership and technical oversight on large, complex and high risk schemes, balancing customer needs with regulatory, safety and operational requirements.
- Ensure the team delivers high quality technical coaching, development and assurance so that all applications comply with Yorkshire Water standards and legislative obligations.
- Represent Yorkshire Water with customers, developers and key stakeholders, clearly articulating requirements, risks and appropriate solutions.
- Drive a culture of Performance Excellence aligned to Yorkshire Water’s Purpose, Customer Promise and Developer Services Customer Experience Strategy, including ownership of D MeX performance and targeted improvement actions.
- Maintain strong operational oversight, managing performance, workload and escalations to meet regulatory timescales, reduce customer harm and embed consistent, compliant processes.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Proven people leader with experience guiding technical teams and delivering sustained performance improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to embed customer centric behaviours in technical environments, using insight, feedback and performance data to drive service and operational improvement.
- Skilled in influencing, negotiation and communication, with confidence operating in a highly regulated, customer facing environment.
- Experienced in owning end to end customer journeys or service outcomes within complex operational settings, balancing compliance, commercial needs and customer satisfaction.
- Strong technical understanding of wastewater networks, including connections and alterations, with knowledge of sewer and water mains design and construction.
- Commercially aware, with the ability to make balanced decisions that protect assets while delivering positive, safe and efficient customer outcomes.
You will also benefit from having:

- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and / or regulated environment.
- Experience of supporting and embedding organisational change.
