Do you have experience providing end-to-end delivery assurance—from construction through testing, commissioning and handover—and a passion for improving safety, quality and environmental performance? We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Integration Manager to join the Engineering team at Yorkshire Water helping to deliver safe, high-quality capital schemes and ensure they are built, tested, commissioned, integrated and handed over into operations in a compliant, reliable condition.

What we do: Everyone has an idea of what a water company does. Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. But for us, it’s so much more than this. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity. New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry.

The Engineering Construction Assurance Team are a key part of how we meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

Asset Integration Manager responsibilities: The Asset Integration Manager will provide oversight, assurance and governance across our capital programme to ensure works are delivered by our partners safely, to specification, to programme and within agreed cost parameters—and that assets are subsequently tested, commissioned, integrated and handed over ready for safe, reliable long-term operation. Working closely with Project Managers, designers, operational stakeholders and our Contracting and Consulting Partners, you will provide informed challenge and support to ensure designs translate into buildable and operable solutions, that delivery plans manage key civils/MEICA interfaces and outages, and that delivery is ready for safe installation, testing, commissioning, integration and handover at water and wastewater assets.

Effective oversight through construction and commissioning is critical to protecting our customers, colleagues and the environment. By providing independent challenge, clear governance and visible presence in the field, you will help ensure works are completed right-first-time, risks are controlled (including isolations, energisation and process safety), safety and quality standards are consistently applied, and that assets are commissioned and handed over in a condition that supports safe, reliable long-term operation.

You will set the standards and provide assurance across the capital programme to ensure safe and efficient delivery, focusing upon:

  • Health, safety and environmental assurance, including CDM compliance and robust risk management across civils, MEICA and commissioning activities (e.g., RAMS, permits, isolations/LOTO and energisation controls)
  • Programme and interface assurance, providing visibility and challenge on key civils/MEICA interfaces, outages, constraints and return-to-service planning
  • Quality assurance and construction assurance (audits, inspections, ITP compliance) for civils works and MEICA installation, ensuring workmanship and records support downstream testing
  • Testing, commissioning and evidence assurance, ensuring FAT/SAT, calibration, functional testing and performance/proving tests demonstrate compliance and are fully traceable
  • Integration assurance, ensuring new assets can be safely and effectively integrated into the operational estate (including tie-ins, control philosophy, alarms/interlocks, telemetry/SCADA, asset data and operability/maintainability requirements)
  • Temporary works assurance and constructability, promoting standardisation and DfMA where appropriate.

You will liaise with and hold partner organisations to account through effective governance, performance management and assurance, ensuring construction execution meets Yorkshire Water standards and statutory requirements.

Where you fit in: As our Asset Integration Manager, you will:

  • Provide leadership for end-to-end delivery assurance across civils and MEICA scopes, setting clear expectations for safety, quality, evidence and operational readiness.
  • Assure delivery planning and readiness by reviewing and challenging contractor programmes, methodologies and resource plans, including control of interfaces, outages, constraints and phased return-to-service.
  • Drive excellent standards in health & safety, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, permit-to-work requirements, isolations/LOTO and the YW Safety Policy.
  • Oversee partner performance through proactive assurance (site visits, audits, reviews and KPI monitoring), intervening early to resolve safety, quality, buildability, evidence and readiness issues.
  • Provide quality, testing and commissioning assurance for civils works and MEICA installation (including electrical and ICA), ensuring ITPs, test packs and evidence support safe testing, commissioning, handover and acceptance.
  • Assure integration into the operational estate by coordinating and challenging tie-in plans, temporary operations, interface control, control/telemetry readiness, asset data capture and operational readiness criteria so that assets can be operated, maintained and monitored from day one.
  • Support commercial and programme control by providing objective reporting on delivery confidence, risks, constraints and change, escalating where needed to protect time, cost, quality and safety outcomes.
  • Promote standardisation, continuous improvement and innovation (including DfMA where appropriate) across construction, commissioning and handover to improve productivity, reduce risk and lower whole-life cost and carbon.

What passion, skills & qualifications you will need:

  • A strong commitment to protecting people and the environment, with a proven safety-first approach to end-to-end delivery (construction, commissioning and integration).
  • Significant, proven experience providing construction and/or commissioning oversight/assurance for complex assets across civils and MEICA scopes (including mechanical installation, electrical works and ICA) within regulated utilities, process industries or similar complex environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM Regulations and delivery risk management (e.g., RAMS, permits, isolations/LOTO, energisation controls and temporary works).
  • Experience assuring and managing partner performance across multiple work fronts, including effective review of programmes, methodologies, RAMS, commissioning plans and test documentation.
  • Ability to provide quality, testing and commissioning assurance across civils and MEICA scopes, ensuring test evidence, completion documentation, asset data and handover packs meet agreed acceptance criteria.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate delivery constraints and risks into clear options and decisions, and to align capital delivery with operations and maintenance needs for effective integration into the estate.
  • Competence in programme management and progress reporting, including issue resolution, escalation and change control.
  • A relevant qualification in engineering, construction or commissioning management (or equivalent experience).
  • Professional registration (e.g., Incorporated/Chartered Engineer) is desirable.
  • Full valid UK driving licence.
