We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Communications Advisor to join the PR team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

What we do: Here in Yorkshire, we make sure that over 5.4 million people living in the region and the millions of people who visit our region each year can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region and play a key role in the region's health, wellbeing, and prosperity. New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Brand and Comms are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

We’re looking for someone who can help tell our story in a clear, honest and engaging way. As a Corporate Communications Advisor, you’ll play a key part in shaping how we talk about our performance, building trust with customers, stakeholders and the wider community. From developing our overarching narrative to producing our bi-annual performance reports, you’ll make sure everything we share is consistent, transparent and easy to understand. You’ll also support colleagues across Corporate Affairs, Finance and PR, helping to keep our messaging aligned and our reputation strong. It’s a role where you’ll be trusted to take the lead, bring fresh ideas to the table, and step in wherever needed to support the wider communications team.

Where you fit in: You’ll sit within our Brand & Communications team, working closely with our PR Manager and wider press team, as well as the Editorial Committee and Corporate Finance colleagues. You’ll be right at the heart of things, linking teams together and making sure everything we say externally reflects who we are and what we stand for.

Day to day, you’ll be:

  • Leading on the creation of our bi-annual performance reports from first draft through to publication.
  • Acting as the go-to contact for teams contributing to reporting and corporate messaging.
  • Supporting investor updates to ensure a consistent and compelling story.
  • Working alongside PR colleagues to manage reputational queries and spot risks early.
  • Collaborating across departments to champion best practice in corporate communications.

You’ll also have the chance to get involved in a wide range of projects, sharing your knowledge and supporting colleagues across the business. Flexibility is key here; we pull together and support each other when it matters most.

What skills & qualifications you will need: We’re after someone who’s confident, proactive and knows how to communicate with clarity and purpose. You’ll already have:

  • Experience working in a Corporate Communications or PR role.
  • Strong copywriting, editing and proofreading skills, with an eye for detail.
  • Experience working either in-house or within an agency environment.
  • Confidence dealing with journalists and managing media relationships.
  • A track record of delivering high-quality work to tight deadlines.
  • The ability to prioritise your workload and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • A proactive approach, with the confidence to take initiative and lead when needed.

You’ll also be comfortable building relationships at all levels and acting as a trusted voice when it comes to communications.

You will also benefit from having: While not essential, it would be great if you bring:

  • Experience working with corporate reporting, governance or regulated environments.
  • An interest in industry trends and a knack for spotting new ways to improve how we communicate.
  • Experience supporting senior stakeholders or working with editorial-style governance groups.
  • A collaborative mindset, with a willingness to share ideas and champion best practice.

In return, you’ll have the chance to grow your skills from refining your storytelling and reporting expertise to building your influence across the organisation. Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life.

If you’re someone who takes pride in getting the message right, enjoys working with a good bunch of people, and fancies playing a part in telling a story that matters, and want to help us deliver great service for our customers whilst looking after the environment, then be sure to apply today to find out what a career with Yorkshire Water can offer you.
