Location: This role will initially be based in Bradford but we are moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future - Hybrid Working (1-2 days office a week Bradford/Leeds).
Work type: Temporary 12 Months. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lead Analyst to join the Asset Investment Team within Wholesale Finance at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

The Asset Investment team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Provide information, insight, and analysis to support the effective management of the Regulatory Capital Programme, playing a key role in its governance, promotion, and delivery. This includes delivering accurate, timely monthly reporting on programme performance and analysing financial and non-financial data to inform investment decisions. Working within Finance, you will maintain visibility of risks and opportunities across all Capital sub-programmes, support regulatory reporting to Ofwat (including PCDs), and provide leadership in programme governance undertaking affordability approvals in GMS (SAP) and offering constructive challenge at project approval meetings to ensure robust decision-making.
You will need a good understanding of working in a Finance environment, driving the governance, controls, and assurance required to deliver projects to time, cost, and quality targets, and contributing to the success of the Programme through informative, targeted management information and analysis.
As our Lead Analyst your areas of responsibility will be:
- Totex Programme Reporting and Monitoring: Lead and own Totex programme reporting across Finance, Asset Planning, and Delivery functions, setting the standard for reporting quality and ensuring performance against time, cost, and quality metrics is accurately monitored and clearly communicated to senior stakeholders.
- Business Planning Reporting: Own the preparation of annual and cyclical business planning reports for Board approval, taking accountability for the robustness, validation, and strategic alignment of all programme data submitted.
- Programme Monitoring Activities: Lead programme monitoring activities, directing the provision of performance reporting and ensuring key trends, risks, opportunities, and delivery outcomes are escalated appropriately to support achievement of business plan commitments.
- Investment Support & Risk Management: Shape investment decisions by leading the review of programme risks, affordability, and delivery impacts, and act as a key point of assurance that the regulatory capital programme is delivered in line with Ofwat requirements.
- Gateway Approvals Management: Own the challenge and support role within SAP gateway approval processes, holding project teams to account on governance and readiness to enable smooth progression into delivery.
- Data Reconciliation & Visibility: Direct the reconciliation of data from across the organisation, taking ownership of the single view of Yorkshire Water's regulatory and investment position and acting as the trusted contact for stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Strategic Participation: Represent the function at Programme Prioritisation Management Groups (PPMGs) and senior governance forums, presenting capital programme performance, expenditure, and risk information and influencing investment decisions across the company.
- Reporting Tools & Trend Analysis: Lead the development and use of advanced reporting and analytical tools, driving improvements in how cost, schedule, risk, and delivery trends are identified, analysed, and presented across the company.
- Ad Hoc Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement: Direct the provision of ad hoc reporting on specific programme elements, proactively engaging senior stakeholders to enhance visibility and strengthen understanding of the capital programme.
- Capital Efficiency Tracking: Tracking of capital outperformance across the programme, ensuring insights drive continuous improvement, optimise project outcomes, and inform future investment strategy.
- Team Leadership & Development: Provide guidance, coaching, and technical support to team members, reviewing outputs for quality, sharing best practice, and supporting the development of reporting capability across the team.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent professional experience, with strong analytical capability and a proven ability to interpret complex information and data.
- Experienced in the use of analytical and reporting tools, including Power BI, to extract, analyse, visualise, and communicate business performance information effectively.
- Highly numerate and data-driven, with a strong attention to detail and a thorough understanding of the importance of data accuracy, integrity, and quality.
- Proven ability to compile, assess, interpret, and communicate complex financial and non-financial data, translating insights into clear and actionable information for a range of audiences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex issues in a simple, engaging manner and present data in a visually appealing format tailored to customer and stakeholder needs.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the use of formulas, pivot tables, charts, and data analysis techniques to solve problems and support informed decision-making.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outputs in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative and proactive team player with experience of building effective working relationships, extracting data from corporate systems, and independently researching, developing, and implementing new approaches while demonstrating a continuous desire to learn and develop new skills.
