Water Utility Company based in the Yorkshire region of England.

The Night Trainee Leakage Inspector attracts an uplifted competitive salary, depending on experience of £25,524- £27,916 plus 20% of annual pay as shift allowance payment and pending pay award of 4.25%.

A rolling working pattern of 3 weeks of nights and 1 week of days.

A Company van.

Annual incentive related bonus (£1000 maximum bonus opportunity for the performance year).

Work type: Permanent. A rolling 3 weeks of nights (Monday to Thursday 4 x 9.25 hrs from 20:45 to 06:30) and 1 week of days (Monday to Friday 5 x 7.4 hrs from 08:00 to 16:00). 37 hrs per week.

Location: Your home location will be in either the Harrogate or Thirsk areas of North Yorkshire.

The Trainee Night Leakage Inspector will work alongside the Night Leakage Inspector and support with advanced investigation activities in the most problematic and challenging district metered areas (DMAs) across the region. The work will involve supporting with step testing and more complex leakage investigation activities in order to locate and promote leakage for repair. In addition, the Team will carry out activities that will achieve longer term benefits to the network, including DMA optimisation, meter servicing, commercial usage investigations and work directed by our Engineering Teams.

You will be expected to work a rolling pattern of 3 weeks of nights and one week of days so you must have the ability to work during unsociable hours.

Successful completion of the traineeship includes an assessment of your knowledge, skills and behaviours as detailed within our development plan which will then allow you to move through the progression levels within this role.

As a Night Trainee Leakage Inspector, you will:

  • Learn advanced detection and investigation techniques without impacting on the wider water network.
  • Prioritise the health, safety and wellbeing of yourself and others.
  • Master leakage detection methods, including sounding, correlating, step testing and acoustic logging.
  • Learn how to differentiate water usage from leakage.
  • Work with new and groundbreaking leakage technologies and equipment.
  • Develop a wide range of water industry skills through our Yorkshire Water Training Academy.
  • Gain proficiency in corporate systems.
  • Develop an understanding of the clean water network, from source to tap.
  • Work as part of a team of experienced Night Leakage Inspectors.
  • Work with other key stakeholders across the Business.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Willingness to work unsociable hours (consecutive nights).
  • Full EU driving license with a maximum of 6 points.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to our company values and behaviours.
  • Passion for exceptional customer service.
  • Proficiency in corporate systems and IT applications.
