This role will initially be based in Bradford but we are moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in Summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future, with a hybrid working arrangement in place, a mix of office and home working. We work 3 x days in the office per week.

This is a permanent role. You will be working full time. You will be expected to work 37 hours per week within a working pattern as follows - Monday to Friday, 07:00am to 19:00pm hours with the rota being a mix of early/late starts. Early working pattern 07:00am 15:00pm or 08:00am 16:00pm, late working pattern 11:00am 19:00pm.

You will work within a team who have responsibility for a specific region within Yorkshire, primarily performing the function of work validation and prioritisation for below ground network maintenance needs. The team are responsible for prioritising and routing value adding work at the start of the journey when a customer or environmental related Waste Water network impact or risk is identified, where follow on work is raised, or at other points in the journey to add value.

This is a key role in supporting our Modernisation programme, moving towards a more intimate, efficient, and proactive approach for our customers and the environment at the front end of our processes for network maintenance.

You will understand waste water network operations and risks, key industry regulatory drivers and health & safety standards and procedures. In addition, you’ll understand sewer failure modes, diagnostics, and routes for resolution / repair with an emphasis on eliminating or minimising impacts on our customers and the environment.

You will also be passionate about improving Yorkshire Water and how we care for our customers, our assets and identify and own opportunities to learn and improve process, system, and colleague capability throughout the customer journey.

Some key role responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring and managing work requiring triage, primarily via the new YW360 and SAP S4 systems, and processing based on business rules and priority.
  • Ensuring that the information provided meets safety & quality requirements and is accurately prioritised before routing to the next step in the process.
  • Develop your own understanding of the waste operations of the Waste Water network assets through on the job learning and utilising technical expertise, to make appropriate course of action decisions, and challenging and influencing stakeholders.
  • Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work which includes adherence to all company Management Procedures.
  • Make decisions on appropriate prioritisation of work across the proactive maintenance and reactive workbasket.
  • Review maintenance jobs against risk and capacity, making decisions about the most effective use of resource and the impact of not completing work.
  • Apply jeopardy management to the maintenance workbasket, identifying where jobs require intervention.
  • Upskill colleagues through diagnostic questioning and coaching both in the field and in the CX pod arrangement.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • A strong desire to improve how we do things at Yorkshire Water, particularly in relation to how we care for our customers and our assets.
  • An excellent understanding of Operational Health & Safety, including Management Procedures.
  • An understanding of waste network operations would be advantageous.
  • An excellent understanding of operational risk, and the company regulatory responsibilities.
  • An excellent understanding of network asset faults, diagnostic questioning, and potential means of repair / restoration.
  • A hard-working team player displaying role model safe behaviours.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience of using SAP to interrogate and process jobs.
  • Customer focused individual with excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Self-motivated individual, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organised individual, with good attention to detail.
  • Previous experience of working in Operational teams in Yorkshire Water, or in the wider utilities and drainage sector is advantageous.
