The wider Corporate Affairs and Partnerships team is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
The Bathing Water Team works across private, public and community sectors to manage challenges collectively to deliver better outcomes for customers and the environment. The Bathing Water Technical Lead will provide expert advice, deliver technical projects and support incident response, in order to reduce YW's impact on designated bathing waters and to seek opportunities to minimise wider impacts to bathing water quality. The role will support the Yorkshire Bathing Water Partnership and will play a key role in Technical Action Group meetings, working in partnership with key stakeholders, such as the Environment Agency and Local Councils, in order to jointly improve Bathing Water Quality.
We're looking for a passionate and driven individual who will be fundamental in improving bathing water quality across the Yorkshire Region which includes 18 coastal and 4 inland bathing waters.
As our Bathing Water Technical Lead your role will include:
- Interpretation and translation of complex data and reports into recommendations, advice and guidance that can be utilised by all colleagues and partners
- Supporting operational teams with training, monitoring and guidance to ensure all assets are optimised for bathing water performance
- Work collaboratively across internal and external stakeholders throughout the bathing season to analyse sample data and carry out root cause investigations
- Ensure a close working relationship between multi-disciplinary teams to ensure hydraulic modelling, civil engineering and marine impact modelling come together to generate solutions which deliver the best possible outcomes for customers and the environment
- Seek to create a network of sharing and learning internally and externally to ensure we're continually improving our approach to bathing water quality.
- Utilising your understanding of pollution management to support the development of new processes and policies which support bathing water quality outcomes.
- Champion the nature first approach for investment by providing technical input and guidance
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Relevant degree or experience
- Experience of bathing water quality and pollution management
- Waste water networks and treatment knowledge and experience
- Proven analytical, problem solving and management skills
- Strong leadership skills able to lead both direct and matrix teams across the business and partners
- Strong stakeholder management and excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate with colleagues at all levels across the business, including senior leaders and directors.
- Able to influence at all levels
- Ability to absorb technical information and communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work in a team and under own initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
- Good IT skills including the use of MS office products.
- Demonstrates a strong customer experience ethos.
