We have an opportunity for an Asset Planning Manager to cover the Yorkshire region, in our Asset Management (waste) department. The role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation to attend sites from where your team(s) operate. Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The Asset Management team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.

The Asset Planning Manager will provide and manage a safe, reliable and affordable Wastewater Network that is optimised for operational and asset risk and delivers required company outcomes over a 2-8 year time horizon. To ensure that funding requirements deliver the optimal asset performance to deliver our performance and ODIs across the business for our customers and the environment.

Where you fit in: As our Asset Planning Manager you will:

  • Develop and lead a team of Wastewater Project sponsors to deliver Totex solutions to meet the needs of the business over a 28-year time horizon.
  • Demonstrate relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive financial awareness of the AMP plan and utilise this awareness when building investment plans within the AMP.
  • Build and implement asset investment business plan that delivers safe, reliable and cost-effective asset performance across the AMP.
  • Act as the Asset Owner within the Asset Management directorate for the Wastewater networks & treatment assets relating to spill reduction. Working with other planning managers to ensure that a fully coordinated plan is submitted for best value.
  • Work with Operational colleagues to ensure that emerging risks are identified and appropriately managed in the Totex environment.
  • Work with Operational colleagues to ensure the investment plans meet current as well as future needs.
  • Represent Wastewater Asset Planning at key decision making meetings in the business i.e. BIC, asset programme board.
  • Manage the AP team always maintaining excellence in health and safety in all areas of work.
  • Be a technical manager in the field of waste networks & treatment, to help the team develop Totex solutions that will mitigate or remove appropriate risks at asset and catchment levels.
  • Work with strategy colleagues to build PR business plans to enable the company to deliver customer outcomes.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Experienced in leading highly successful teams, meeting key deliverables.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of managing Wastewater networks.
  • Extensive experience of Asset Management principles.
  • Clear understanding of the position and role of Network Asset Planning as well as individual role in delivering company risk management plans.
  • Has extensive and effective internal and external relationships.
  • Experienced in developing and maintaining key internal and external relationships.
  • Experienced in supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours.
  • Experience of delivering against challenging business targets.
  • Clearly demonstrates the Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.

You will also benefit from having:

  • Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
  • Previous experience gained within the Wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors.
  • Proven experience in carrying out detailed investigations into performance shortfalls on Wastewater networks.
  • Ability to communicate at different levels within an organisation.
  • Experienced in Project management.
