Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Technician to join the Clean Water distribution department at Yorkshire Water and contribute to providing the best service to our customers.

Location: Hull / Wolds area

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

New environmental legislation, investment and changing customer expectations create opportunities within the water industry. Water distribution is a key part of meeting customer and regulator expectations.

Where you fit in

As our Field Technician you will safely carry out day-to-day activities on a 24/7 rota, ensuring tasks are completed on time, within budget and to the required quality to enable the effective operation of the Yorkshire Water distribution network. This includes proactive network operation and maintenance, risk assessments, supervision of network intervention, and rapid response to network failures to minimise impact on key targets such as Water Supply Interruptions and Water Quality.

You will have customer-facing responsibility for frontline service delivery, attending customer appointments and resolving queries through problem solving, network optimisation and promotion of relevant work where required.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out day-to-day activities on a 24/7 rota, ensuring work is completed on time, to budget and to required quality.
  • Proactive network operation and maintenance; complete operational risk assessments; supervise network intervention; respond quickly to network failures.
  • Minimise impact on key performance targets related to water supply interruptions and water quality.
  • Deliver frontline customer service, attend customer appointments and resolve queries using problem solving and network optimisation.

What skills & qualifications you will need

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience of delivering against challenging upper quartile targets and performance commitments
  • Builds and maintains effective internal and external relationships to a high standard
  • Ability to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours
  • Positive approach to handling changes (technology, process, behavioural and organisational)
  • Excellent customer service skills (internal and external)
  • IT literate
  • Team player with ability to work across teams and support development of others

You will also benefit from having

  • Experience in a commercially oriented and/or regulated environment
  • Experience in the water or wastewater sectors or related utilities/process/manufacturing
  • Technical understanding of water networks and assets
