Location: Buttershaw, Bradford / Hybrid Working approx 2 days in office per week

Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday Friday.

Yorkshire Water are currently recruiting for a Distribution Maintenance Manager who will ensure the safe, efficient and effective deployment of a team of Distribution Maintenance Technicians, ensuring the delivery of vital proactive flushing activity that helps in the delivery of our regulatory targets in relation to Water Network Performance. In addition, the role will help to identify and deliver additional pro-active maintenance activity to further enhance Network performance and the service we provide for our Customers

As our Distribution Maintenance Manager you will

  • Leading the team to deliver excellent performance by setting clear expectations linked to business targets, having meaningful performance discussions that recognise and reward the right performance and behaviours and challenges where individual performance and behaviours do not meet expectations
  • Driving excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work and ensure compliance with YW Safety Policy
  • Demonstrating relentless drive, energy and determination to deliver sustainable outperformance for YW that rigorously achieves against demanding competitive industry benchmarks
  • To successfully perform against business plan, performance commitments and SLAs and support key PC delivery relating to Water Quality Complaints, Water Quality Compliance and C-Mex
  • Providing support in shaping the future direction of Network Strategy alongside other members of the Water Distribution team
  • To improve customer satisfaction in all Distribution Maintenance related activity through effective, informed and empowered customer management.
  • Ensuring understanding of customer expectations through customer insight and other relevant service analytics
  • Regularly reviewing industry best practice and innovation to improve processes, policies and people, developing a culture of continual improvement. The improvement of techniques and processes is essential to be able to improve productivity and performance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with other water companies to effectively benchmark and share best practice.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of a comprehensive Air Valve Inspection Programme

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • A strong technical and operational understanding of water distribution networks and their inherent risks
  • Can demonstrate a high level of Health and Safety knowledge and application of policy and procedure
  • Experienced in Yorkshire Waters corporate systems and policy and procedures
  • Strong record of managing challenging business targets
  • Demonstrate ability to negotiate and influence at strategic levels
  • Qualification to Degree level or can demonstrate significant relative experience
  • Knowledge of OFWAT periodic review process
  • Good customer management skills and awareness of CMEX

You will also benefit from having:

  • Good understanding of Water operational structures and processes
  • Understanding of the regulatory requirements and measures for WASCs
  • Understanding of the Water Act and the Competition Act
  • Experience of supporting and embedding change, able to influence and drive the right culture and behaviours

We embrace a flexible working model, where our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2 days in the office per week. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
