This role will be based in Leeds city centre with a hybrid working arrangement in place, a mix of office and home working. This is a permanent role. You will be working full time, expected to work 37 hours per week within a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm Monday to Friday.

We are looking for a Development Surveyor to join the team and play a key role in promoting the acquisition, management and facilitating the development and disposal of Keyland's property portfolio to maximise capital value and land value. You will work closely with Yorkshire Water's Land & Property (L&P) team and the operational business to identify and promote other properties which have development potential and might become non-operational with future capital investment.
You will actively seek, review and acquire new strategic Planning Promotion Opportunities in the open market. Support Planning and Property Teams in the appraisal and negotiation of all development opportunities both within Keyland's existing portfolio and from potential transfers to ensure all development opportunities are realised.
Liaise with Yorkshire Water's L&P and Legal teams to negotiate the terms of all acquisitions and to progress transfers on behalf of Keyland. Work closely with Yorkshire Water's L&P and Legal teams to manage and work through complex land issues which arise when managing and disposing of sites in the portfolio.
Sole responsibility for the management of tenanted properties (including new leases, dilapidations, licences to assign and alter, and service charge) on behalf of Keyland and the Kelda Group ensuring financial risks associated in holding tenanted properties are managed and mitigated.
Appoint and manage teams of external consultants made up of a diverse range of external senior property professionals, including selling agents, lawyers, planning consultants, architects, engineers and others, as determined by the individual requirements of each project.
Review consultants' proposals to ensure compliance with financial requirements, and that required documents are prepared and delivered within agreed scope and timescales. Ensure that information, notices and approvals required to complete acquisitions, disposals and other commercial proposals are provided and that transactions are completed expeditiously.
Manage and delegate day-to-day enquiries regarding the Company's diverse property portfolio. Undertake inspections of sites to identify areas of risk, particularly in relation to health and safety, and actions required in order to mitigate risk to acceptable levels.
Ensure costs are monitored throughout the project, regularly coordinating with Keyland's accountant to measure the impact and return on sale.
Minimum of 5 years experience working in the property sector.
Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Knowledge and experience of the legal and regulatory requirements relating to the acquisition, ownership, management and sale of property.
Proven ability to manage consultant teams of professionals in relation to specific projects to ensure the sales programme is adhered to and business plan targets are achieved.
Knowledge of local and national property markets.
Excellent communication skills and report writing.
Understanding of planning and development legislation and processes.
Familiarity with Health and Safety issues and mitigation measures in relation to land and property.
A full UK driving licence, with no more than 6 points.
