Where you’d work: Bradford/Hybrid Working – a mix of working from home, out at events across Yorkshire and in the office at Bradford. Work type:Permanent role, working full time, 37 hours per week. Primarily working Monday – Friday between a working window of 8:00am-6:00pm, although some evening and weekend working may be required. We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications & Engagement Advisor to play a key role in communicating and engaging with customers, colleagues and stakeholders about the company’s key messages and to influence behavioural change by building trust within Yorkshire’s communities. But for us, it’s so much more than this. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire’s water, today, tomorrow 24/7, 365 days a year. We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region’s health, wellbeing, and prosperity. New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. Where will you fit in? You will play a key role in delivering our communications and engagement activity. You will help to shape our incident communications response, ensuring customers can rely on us when things don’t quite go to plan. You will also work with our events agencies and the wider comms team to plan and deliver our program of community events. We get out and about in the community as much as we can. It’s a great way to connect with our customers and talk to them about our key behavioural change campaigns (such as asking them to save water or educating them on what shouldn’t be flushed down the loo). You may represent the company externally through media interviews and will be expected to proactively identify and manage emerging reputational risks and opportunities. You will work closely with our in-house studio to ensure we’re maximising all marketing opportunities and work closely with other colleagues in the brand and communications team to ensure our company narrative is consistent across all communications channels. You will also deputise for the Lead Communications and Engagement Advisor when needed. What skills & qualifications are we looking for? • Significant experience as a communications professional • Proactive, creative and driven with an ability to put creative ideas into action • A proven track record of delivering effective crisis communications with significant results and within a pressured environment • A proven track record of delivering brilliant customer engagement through in person events • Has the ability to influence key stakeholders both internally and externally • An ability to create content that users want to engage with and ability to utilise this content to build relationships and create advocacy • Strong knowledge of the communications and engagement environment • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and written skills • Be able to work independently and support and contribute to a team • Excellent organisational skills, able to take initiative and be proactive with work tasks and manage workloads • Strong IT skills, able to use Excel, PowerPoint and Word • Excellent communication skills • It would be advantageous if you had a Public Relations or similar qualification Although we operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, it’s really important to us that we support flexible working patterns and job share options (when we can), to help you make the best of both your work and home life.
