Location: Buttershaw, Bradford, hybrid working (2 to 3 office days per week), pending office move to Leeds (LS10) from Summer, 2026. Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Controls Lead to join the Asset Delivery PMO at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

The Alliance PMO within the Storm Overflows Alliance function are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. In AMP8, Asset Delivery PMO will support a multi-billion-pound programme of capital investment across YW's clean and wastewater assets. The Capital Programme is growing by over 50% as we move into AMP8. The Senior Project Control Leads are integral members of the Asset Delivery PMO and will play a critical role in the successful delivery of this programme through the coordination of project and programme control activity for the programme of work that they are assigned to.

Where you fit in: As our Senior Project Controls Lead you will:

  • Drive the application of proportionate project control processes across the programme of work to which they are assigned and support more junior members of the team to do the same.
  • Facilitate regular sessions with the delivery team to discuss project/programme health, provide appropriate challenge and contribute to solutions that will improve performance.
  • Proactive approach to identifying potential threats to performance and work with project teams to reduce this risk.
  • Ensure projects are following the agreed upon project control processes including financial forecasting, Change control, RAID, milestone management.
  • Identifying where processes are not being followed and taking responsibility to increase adherence.
  • Draft Programme status reports and measure progress of key metrics. Confidently present this to Senior Leaders.
  • With the support of the Project Planners, provide a fully integrated performance approach and ensure that financial forecasts and schedules are aligned.
  • Ensure consistency in delivery of project control activity across multiple sub-programmes.
  • Working closely with the other Senior Project Control Lead to ensure consistency and best practice.
  • Carry out assurance activities including Project Assurance Reviews and Post Project Reviews and report outputs and actions to senior leaders.
  • Support in the development of Project control training packages and the implementation of this training across the project delivery community.
  • Line management responsibilities for Project Control Leads.
  • Provide training and guidance to more junior members of the project control team.
  • Drive continuous improvement with the project control team, identifying and taking ownership of specific initiatives.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Experience of working in a PMO environment, specifically in project controls.
  • The ability to analyse and articulate key messages from project performance data and present confidently to senior leaders.
  • Experience enforcing control processes within large complex programmes of work.
  • Experience of tracking and reporting project cost, time and quality with a robust understanding of project management principles.
  • Good understanding of financial reporting and project planning principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Experience of supporting colleagues to improve team capability.
  • Ability to challenge undesired behaviours appropriately.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to use multiple systems.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships across the wider teams.

You will also benefit from having:

  • Experience of leading a team and/or line management responsibility.
  • Previous experience gained within the water industry or within the broader utilities or construction industry.
  • Experience of working with complex commercial and contractual challenges specifically under NEC.
  • Knowledge of Primavera P6.

This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our office is open Monday-Friday during working hours.
