This role leads regional maintenance operations, driving the optimisation of critical water and wastewater assets to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient service delivery. You’ll shape and execute a multi-year maintenance strategy focused on improving asset reliability, resilience, and affordability. Operating in a complex, safety-critical environment, the role integrates proactive and reactive maintenance, reliability engineering, and regulatory assurance to maximise performance for customers and protect the environment.
Where you fit in: As our Regional Maintenance Operations Manager you will:
- Lead and oversee Electrical, Mechanical, and Instrumentation & Control maintenance activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations across all assets.
- Ensure there is visible leadership and adherence to permits and procedures. This ensures safe work on every job, every day is carried out.
- Maintain high planned work proportion, controlled backlog, strong scheduling and ensuring first time fix.
- Ensure availability of assets is high, reducing unplanned downtime and restoration.
- Prevent permit breaches, conduct timely investigations and CAPA.
- Engage highly capable teams who are clear on the expectations, receive regular coaching and recognition with consistent strong performance.
- Provide transparent reporting and engagement with stakeholders to ensure that they are kept informed.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Evidence of delivering strategic business targets and exceptional customer service through senior leadership roles.
- Proven experience managing performance of operational field teams to achieve efficiency and compliance.
- Health & Safety trained (NEBOSH preferred, minimum IOSH) with strong knowledge of H&S management processes and systems.
- Management qualification or degree in a relevant technical discipline, or equivalent proven technical expertise in operational maintenance.
- Demonstrable ability to develop and implement strategic plans, drive maintenance maturity, and embed cultural change.
- Strong financial and cost centre management experience, delivering value for money and operational efficiency.
- Skilled in incident management and asset failure recovery, with excellent planning and prioritisation in high-pressure environments.
- Holds a valid driving licence, and flexible to work across the Yorkshire region.
