We have an exciting opportunity for an Operational Logistics Lead to join the Emergency Preparedness & Resilience Team within Central Control at Yorkshire Water.

Where you fit in
As our Operational Logistics Lead, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring efficient and effective logistic management including the response to unforeseen events affecting water supply and distribution.
- Represent the company at both a regional and national level and identify & implement best practice by assessing the industry and identifying new ways of operating and ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory commitments.
- Lead incident coordination/management, in particular leading the logistics response during operational incidents, coordinating resources & equipment to minimise impact and maintain service to our customers.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure a swift and cohesive approach to incident resolution.
- Participate in our Company Incident Management Plan and actively participate in our escalation process, providing key updates and taking actions to support through to resolution and de‑escalation.
- Resource Management – oversee the allocation and deployment of resources, vehicles, and equipment to incident sites and maintain inventory control and logistics support for emergency supplies and materials.
- Lead on stock management, strategic locations, and future logistics developments.
- Act as a central point of contact for logistics‑related communication.
- Provide timely and accurate reports to stakeholders, keeping them informed of resource status and incident progress.
- Develop and enhance logistics contingency plans to optimise response capabilities.
- Design and conduct regular drills and training exercises to ensure readiness of logistics teams.
- Establish and maintain relationships with external suppliers and vendors for rapid acquisition of necessary resources and negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure a reliable and efficient supply chain.
- Lead on innovation – utilise advanced technologies and data analytics to enhance logistics efficiency.
What skills & qualifications you will need
- Previous experience in logistics management and relevant skills and qualifications.
- Technical knowledge and understanding of equipment & requirements within incident response.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to train and develop operational and technical teams as well as coach, develop and influence senior management.
- Strong networking & influencing skills with the ability to coordinate resources seamlessly and influence change across the business, including senior leaders.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Strategic thinker.
- Excellent communication, presentation and report writing skills.
- Ability to work without close supervision and to agreed targets and standards.

- Holder of a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
You will also benefit from having
- Knowledge of the UK Resilience structure, including in depth knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act and the Security & Emergency Measures Direction.
- Track record of driving high performance through quality assurance and risk management.
- Proven track record of interpreting, compiling and data analysis.
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
- An understanding of Yorkshire Water’s performance commitments.

Location
This role will initially be based in Bradford but we’re moving our office to Leeds Valley Park in summer 2026, so you’ll be based there in the future.
Work type
This is a permanent position. Full time, working 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the working window of 8:00am – 6:00pm.

We offer a salary from £43,000 – £53,754 per annum dependant on experience. Annual incentive related bonus (£1,000 maximum bonus opportunity for the performance year).
