We have an exciting opportunity for a HV Electrician to join us in the Maintenance department and be a part of helping us give the very best service to our customers. Permanent. Out of hours, weekend working, and bank holidays will be worked as part of a structured stand-by rota. Once fully trained you will be assessed for working on your own and you will be required to participate in an out of hours standby rota which will include evenings, weekends, and overnight callouts.

As our HV Electrician you will be responsible for the completion of Planned and Reactive Electrical tasks within timescale, quality and cost parameters. Work unsupervised in remote geographic locations, taking part in a standby rota as required. Ensure you minimise risk to people and equipment by leaving adequate handover information for colleagues who may be asked to complete any work. Build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers and sub-contractors. Demonstrate financial awareness when making day to day business decisions, identifying ways to improve value and service delivery. Drive excellent Health and Safety (H&S) behaviours in relation to policy and standards, identifying H&S improvements across any areas that have an impact on your role and the role of others. Conduct your own risk assessments and populate appropriate method statements required to safely carry out maintenance activities. Maintain PPE, van and other tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any defects promptly, ensuring your equipment is presented for testing and inspection in advance of expiry dates. Supervising and permitting, when required, of approved sub-contractors. Assist in the development and training of apprentices and other less experienced Craft.

Our HV Electrician will hold a recognised Electrical Craft/Technician Apprenticeship, with a minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or JIB approved/equivalent electrician or Eng Tech. As a time served industrial electrician, you should have:

  • Fault finding with industrial motors and starters
  • Fault finding with industrial 3 phase systems
  • Previous experience gained within the water or wastewater sectors or within the broader utilities, process or manufacturing industry sectors
  • HNC Electrical/Electronic Engineering
  • IET 18th Edition Inspection & Testing City and Guilds 2394 and 2395
  • City & Guilds accredited HV Training course or equivalent
  • Maintenance, operation, installation and testing of High Voltage equipment
  • Experience working on HV Variable Speed Drives, direct online drives and auto transformers
  • JIB approved
  • Ability to produce single line/electrical diagrams and create HV switching plans
