Location: Esholt, Bradford with regional travel expected as part of the role.

Work type: This is a permanent opportunity, working full time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Where you fit in: We are seeking experienced and passionate Health & Safety Trainers to join our team. These are regionally based roles, responsible for delivering high-quality training programmes across Yorkshire Water sites. You will play a key part in ensuring compliance, promoting safe working practices, and empowering employees with the knowledge to work safely and effectively. You will be responsible for the training and/or assessing of Yorkshire Water Colleagues in Health & Safety related courses/qualifications. You will deliver consistently good teaching, learning and assessment and motivate delegates to raise their ambitions and realise their full potential.

As our Academy Trainer/Assessor you will:

  • Design, develop, and deliver engaging training sessions across a range of health and safety topics.
  • Facilitate both classroom and practical training, ensuring learners gain hands‑on experience where applicable.
  • Assess learner competence and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Support the development of training materials and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coach individuals or small groups around Health & Safety principles in line with products & Health and Safety policies and procedures.

You will deliver training in some of the following key areas:

  • Control of Work (Permit Writing) – Ensuring safe systems of work and compliance with permit‑to‑work procedures.
  • Manual Handling – Teaching correct techniques to reduce risk of injury.
  • Work at Height – Promoting safe practices and legal requirements for working at height.
  • Confined Space – Training on entry procedures, risk assessment, and emergency response.
  • IOSH – Delivering accredited IOSH courses to enhance workplace safety awareness.
  • Fire Marshall – Preparing employees to act effectively in fire emergencies.
  • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) – Educating on safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Construction Design Management (CDM) – Training on CDM regulations and responsibilities for safe construction projects.

What skills & qualifications you will need:

  • Recognised Health & Safety qualifications (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
  • Training and Assessing Qualifications such as Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience delivering training in some of the Health & Safety courses mentioned above.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage learners and adapt training to different learning styles.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
  • Flexibility to travel across Yorkshire Water sites and a full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points.
