Location: West Yorkshire / Hybrid Working (1-2 days in the office a week Bradford, relocating to Leeds Summer 2026). Work type: Permanent, 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Telemetry Engineer to join the Technology team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
What we do: We ensure that over 5.4 million people living in the region can rely on our services, providing clean and safe drinking water and managing wastewater. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to manage Yorkshire's water sustainably.
The IT function is a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Help us shape the future of Telemetry at Yorkshire Water. You will work on essential tech like SCADA, PLCs and RTUs, solving real problems and improving how our network operates.
As our Telemetry Engineer you will:
- Support the design, development, testing and deployment of BSG services, including SCADA, PLC systems, instrumentation, RTUs and communication systems.
- Maintain and update engineering specifications.
- Support technical leads in validating solutions to ensure they meet requirements around performance, security, reliability, scalability, disaster recovery and cost.
- Contribute to technology projects by identifying technical tasks, providing realistic estimates, following development methodologies and adhering to engineering and IT standards.
- Ensure services delivered are scalable, reliable, secure, compliant, thoroughly tested, maintainable and aligned to preferred architectures.
- Support smooth handover and adoption by Operations and Engineering Reliability.
- Stay up to date with developments in telemetry technologies.
- Support troubleshooting in your technical discipline.
- Carry out project management tasks and report progress to technical leads.
- Act as technical support for clients or principal designers where CDM applies.
- Collaborate effectively across teams and the wider Kelda Group.
- Work flexibly and adapt to tasks beyond your immediate team when required.
- Take a proactive approach to identifying opportunities and potential technical issues.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Experience with Telemetry systems like SCADA, PLCs, instrumentation or RTUs.
- Good all-round technical skills with hardware, software or hosted setups.
- Strong troubleshooting ability and problem-solving mindset.
