We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Technician Electrical to join the Specialist Projects Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
What we do: We provide essential water and wastewater services to every corner of the Yorkshire region, and play a key role in the region's health, wellbeing, and prosperity. New environmental legislation, unprecedented levels of investment and changing expectations from customers means that this is an exciting time to discover opportunities within the water industry. The Specialist Projects Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators.
As a Project Technician Electrical, you will provide design and build project services to manage specific small projects within the Specialist Project Teams portfolio through from conception to hand-over to the relevant Business Partner. This includes liaising with operators, engineering design, project budget and cost control, project planning and reporting, site surveys, design, procurement, contractor selection and tendering, site supervision, commissioning and operator training (with support from others).
Where you fit in: As our Project Technician Electrical you will:
- Develop and deliver cost engineered solutions in response to Business Risk ensuring adherence to correct national and internal regulations, policies and standards in terms of both the design and life cycle considerations.
- Ensure compliance with CDM regulations for projects including acting as named person for Principal Contractor on behalf of Yorkshire Water.
- Provide design and build project services to manage specific small to large scale projects within the Specialist Projects portfolio.
- Drive excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management and control of work to ensure compliance with the YW Safety Policy.
- Manage the execution of the project ensuring alignment with all Health, Safety and Environmental and engineering standard requirements.
- Work as part of the team to deliver excellent performance by understanding how their individual performance links into achieving the team's wider objectives.
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- Electrical based apprenticeship or Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent / ONC/HNC/BTEC in Electrical Engineering.
- Understands the principles of control of works - Permits, POWRA, RAMS etc.
- Has a good understanding of the design and project delivery process including hazard identification, risk assessment and site supervision.
- Is able to highlight technical issues and supports and contributes to resolution.
- Is able to manage & prioritise workload whilst maintaining effective operational relationships.
- Current valid driving licence and flexibility to travel across the Yorkshire region.
You will also benefit from having:
- Experience of driving sustainable performance against challenging business targets.
- Previous experience in a commercially orientated and/or regulated environment.
- Knowledge of the range of equipment within the Water Industry including high pressure/temperature waste processing facilities, CHP and high voltage equipment.
- CITB SMSTS trained with valid card.
