We have an opportunity for a Network Escapes Technician to join the Customer Field Services department at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

Location: This role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement and will be based in Bradford, with an office move to Leeds Valley Park in the Summer. There is an expectation to visit sites in the Yorkshire region; a full valid driving licence (with no more than 6 points) is an essential requirement for this role. Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Customer Field Services are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. This is a key role in ensuring we achieve our aspirations and Performance Commitment targets to reduce internal and external sewer flooding. This role will help deliver our financial reward targets for the business through AMP8, as well as delivering improved service to customers.

The Network Escapes Technician will play a critical role in ensuring that the business delivers on its AMP 8 performance associated with Internal Sewer Flooding (ISF) and External Sewer Flooding (ESF). You will help ensure our regulatory Performance Commitments are achieved, through validating and categorising sewer flooding incidents in line with regulatory requirements.

As our Network Escapes Technician, you will:

  • Use Escape Reports to validate and categorise flooding incidents in accordance with regulatory guidelines, recommending GSS payments where appropriate.
  • Create, develop, and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders to achieve common goals, providing regular summary reports to update on performance, highlighting performance and quality issues as well as providing coaching for the operations Team.
  • Work closely with the Operational Team to ensure performance shortfalls and failures are promptly investigated and understood, driving performance and improvements of data collection.
  • Interpret and provide rainfall RADAR analysis, review, and recommend which properties are at risk.
  • Be responsible for interpreting data and reports and carrying out desktop studies and reviewing investigations carried out by Operational Teams.
  • Monitor the progression of investigations and repair work to avoid repeat occurrences and collate all available data to sign off and categorise incidents.
  • Ensure escape reports are completed to the correct standard and within a timely manner.

What skills and experience you will need:

  • Logical problem solving and basic IT skills with the ability to work with technical equipment.
  • Ability to acquire, understand and interpret technical information.
  • Experience of providing good governance and quality assurance to process.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbally.
  • Data handling and statistical analysis.
  • Supporting and embedding change.
  • Influencing and driving a right first-time approach.
  • Developing new and innovative ways to improve outputs.
  • Competent in the use of IT systems including Odyssey, SAP, ICE and Microsoft Applications.
  • A full valid EU driving licence (no more than six points) and access to own transport is essential.

  • Proven record of playing a contributing role in relevant meetings to provide insight and technical expertise.

  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data to meet regulatory targets.
