Location: North West, North East, and South of Yorkshire / Hybrid Working
Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Standby would be expected once achieved required level of progression; occasional overtime may be available.
We have an exciting opportunity for an ICA Technician to join a regional team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.
What we do: We ensure that over 5.4 million people living in the region can rely on our services, and have clean and safe drinking water on tap and that their wastewater is taken away. We look after communities, protect the environment, and plan to look after Yorkshire's water, today, tomorrow, 24/7, 365 days a year.
As an ICA technician within our Asset Delivery team, you will be required to work unsupervised in a wide variety of locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive ICA tasks within agreed timescales, quality, and cost parameters. You will have responsibility for maintaining, repairing, and commissioning instrumentation, control, automation, and telemetry systems across Yorkshire Water's asset base on treatment works, pumping stations, CSOs and reservoirs.
To support you in the delivery of maintaining, repairing, and commissioning the variety of assets across Yorkshire Water, we provide in-house training on areas such as PLCs, SCADA, Instruments etc.
Where you fit in: As our ICA Technician you will:
- Be required to work unsupervised in a wide variety of locations and be accountable for the completion of planned and reactive ICA tasks within agreed timescales
- Be expected to build and maintain relationships with operational customers, colleagues, suppliers, and partners
- Always work safely to agreed safe systems of work
- Proactively identify areas for improvement in relation to hazards, providing mitigation and submitting these to the safety database
- Be responsible for maintaining, repairing and commissioning a wide variety of ICA related equipment from PLCs to telemetry systems and instrumentation such as pressure, flow, level, chlorine residual, turbidity and pH
What skills & qualifications you will need:
- A recognised electrical craft or technician apprenticeship
- A formal electrical qualification: National Certificate (ONC) or similar
- A practical electrical qualification: City and Guilds, NVQ or similar
- The ability to read and understand technical documents such as loop diagrams and electrical drawings
- The ability to identify and rectify faults on electrical systems
- Safe isolation to the current IET regulations
- IT skills
You will also benefit from having:
- IET 18th edition (requirements for electrical installations)
- CompEx: Ex 1, EX 2, EX 3, EX 4
- HNC electrical/electronic engineering
- Knowledge and experience on PLC systems (maintenance and fault finding)
- Professionally registered with the IET or similar
- Experience in the water industry or other process environment
- IOSH Qualification
