We have an exciting opportunity for an Asset Technical Support Engineer (ICA) to join the Asset Delivery team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers.

The Engineering Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Working as part of a multidiscipline team covering Electrical, Mechanical and ICA, as an Asset Technical Support Engineer, you will investigate, design, and develop instrumentation, control, automation and telemetry systems for water and wastewater systems, driving improvements to the asset health and resilience whilst ensuring continued compliance to regulations.
As a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for ICA, you will address unique engineering challenges and provide design and technical advice across Yorkshire Water. Your role includes supporting the minor capital programme, offering operational engineering support, and conducting studies and investigations. You will manage projects involving data analysis, design, document preparation, and proposal reviews.
Where you fit in: Function as a second line, escalated support, as required to maintain operations; and recommend optimisation opportunities and suitable long-term solutions to address any operational issues. Provide guidance on ICA topics, asset planning decisions and supporting the development of engineering strategy, policy, procedures, and standards within Yorkshire Water. Manage the delivery of, or deliver, onsite Minor Capex works for Electrical and ICA projects and proof of concept trails of innovative technologies, using your knowledge of CDM. Lead or support Investigations for pollutions, equipment, asset, and process performance shortfalls. Work with suppliers to ensure strategic guidance for managing obsolescence and the deployment of new technologies and also in developing frameworks to maximize value from suppliers and partners. You will provide coaching and mentoring to graduate engineers, technicians and team members to support the transfer of specialist knowledge and succession planning within Yorkshire Water.
What skills & qualifications you will need: It is essential that you hold a formal engineering qualification to a minimum of HNC or equivalent (Preferably a HND or degree). Knowledge and ability to deliver and fully document a full Root Cause Analysis Investigation (RCA) following incidents and failures of process equipment and assets. Experience in developing engineering solutions and incorporating them into work packages/specifications. Knowledge and skills relevant to minor project design, management and delivery. Ability to understand and practically discuss the relevant aspects of technical and process related investigations and documentation i.e. Engineering Risk Assessment/Safety Reviews, Functional Design Specifications, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), Electrical/Loop drawings etc. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability of clearly communicating and influencing multifunctional teams with differing knowledge and ability. A full, valid driving licence (with no more than 6 points) is required for the role.
You will also benefit from having: Previous discipline-specific engineering experience in water/waste/sludge treatment process-related or production-based engineering operations. System integration experience, platforms used within YW are Allen Bradley SLC500, Mitsubishi IEC/GX Works, Schneider Modicon. Proficient in the use of corporate IT Computer Systems e.g. SAP. Asset management experience within an engineering or process related industry. Working knowledge of CDM Regulations 2015, qualification in SMSTS would be desirable. A strong attention to detail. Ideally, you will have a membership (or working towards membership) of a recognised Engineering Institution at Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
