Asset Technical Specialist – Investigations to join the Asset Management – Wastewater team at Yorkshire Water and help provide the best service to our customers.

Yorkshire Water supplies clean, safe drinking water and manages wastewater for over a million residents and many visitors in the region.
We protect the environment, support communities, and plan for sustainable water and wastewater services 24/7, 365 days a year.
Our newly established Asset Management – Wastewater team plays a key role in meeting customer and regulator expectations.
The Asset Technical Specialist – Investigations safeguards and enhances the performance of sewerage pumping stations and rising mains across the region.
Where you fit in!
- Lead and drive excellent standards and behaviours in health and safety, risk management, and work activity control.
- Develop sustainable solutions for operational shortfalls across the pumping asset base.
- Work closely with operational and technical teams to identify the correct TOTEX solutions.
- Create action plans for failing assets to reduce environmental harm.
- Utilise performance data to track results and demonstrate benefits of interventions.
- Work with operational teams to mitigate unfunded risks.
- Maintain progress views for each risk through the investment cycle and communicate to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with asset planning teams to optimise asset performance using all available data.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements or innovative techniques to reduce shortfalls.
- Gain a greater understanding of proactive intervention impacts on pumping stations and rising mains and influence future interventions.
- Lead on collating technical information for root cause reviews.
- Create a clear team identity that motivates, gains commitment and trust, and involves others across boundaries.
- Proactively manage personal and team energy to build trust and improve performance.
- What skills & qualifications you will need
- Understanding of health and safety legislation, policies, and requirements related to sewerage pumping systems.
- Expert knowledge of sewerage system assets, common failure modes, and solutions.
- Knowledge of company quality systems.
- Recognised qualification or proven technical experience in wastewater operations.
- Demonstrable experience influencing operational team performance.
- Proven ability to prepare successful business cases for investment.
- Evidence of providing exceptional customer service.
- Understanding and experience of financial and cost centre management.
- Ability to acquire, understand, interpret, and disseminate technical and financial information.
- Proven planning ability – identifying priorities and actions to deliver results.
- Good analytical and problem‑solving skills; ability to articulate complex issues clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; IT literate.
- Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Clearly demonstrates Yorkshire Water company values and behaviours.
- In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft applications, YW telemetry, and SAP systems.
- Full valid EU driving licence and ability to use a car.
