We are seeking a detail-oriented, organised, and highly experienced Bookkeeper to join our client, an SME, with a small finance team. This position is working 3-4 full days per week, up to 24 hours (please note that Mondays are a mandatory working day due to business needs).
The successful candidate will have a short notice period, be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing accounts, and providing extensive accounting support to the business. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in accounting software and a keen eye for detail to contribute to our company’s success.
Benefits
- Salary up to £32,000 (pro rata) depending on experience
- Part time hours 22.5‑24 per week (between Mon and Thurs 9‑3.30pm, site closes 1.30pm Fridays), with Monday as a definite working day

Duties of the Bookkeeper will include
- Manage and maintain financial records using Xero
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions efficiently and accurately
- Reconcile bank statements and ensure all financial data is up-to-date and precise
- Prepare financial reports using MS Excel
- Support month‑end closing activities up to trial balance
- Credit checking
- Answer all incoming calls to general public
- Day-to-day office duties
The ideal Bookkeeper will have
- Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar finance role
- Proficiency in Xero (ideal but not essential)
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger functions
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as the successful candidate will answer all incoming calls
- Relevant qualifications in accounting or finance are desirable but not essential
- Short notice period, or be available immediately
