Yorkshire Premier Meat Ltd operates an EU-approved meat preparation plant in South Kirkby, South Yorkshire, supplying the meat manufacturing industry with specially prepared beef, pork, lamb, and venison for a range of high quality food suppliers.

YPM provides daily deliveries to help customers minimize stock holdings, emphasizing reliability and flexibility in service.

Primary Purpose of the Role

To oversee the effective management of production, ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, operational efficiency, and alignment with company objectives.

This role involves meeting production targets, whilst fostering a safe, well-maintained, and operationally efficient environment, to produce the high quality products expected by our customers.

  • Key Areas of Responsibility and Standards of Performance
  • Management of the site’s food safety culture, to help prevent deviation in the process that impacts the safety, quality and legality of our products.
  • Leading and motivating production teams to deliver optimal performance.
  • Managing day-to-day operations, including maintenance, repairs, and upgrades ensuring all facilities and assets are maintained to the required standard, within budget.
  • Monitor and manage the performance of service contracts, ensuring delivery meets agreed service levels.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and building regulations, managing all activities to ensure that safety, programme, cost and quality objectives are met.
  • Facilitate and lead the development and implementation of capital and revenue projects and strategies for site improvements and modernisation, in line with business needs.
  • Coordinate planned preventive maintenance (PPM) with the appropriate internal or external stakeholders.
  • Ensure site compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including health and safety, building regulations, fire, electrical fixed wiring, and environmental standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, and permits.
  • To ensure raw material stocks are used in line with stock allocations, identifying and communicating any issues to the appropriate stakeholder to prevent any losses.
  • Efficiently deploy and manage departmental labour resource to ensure all areas are manned at all times.
  • Coordinate compliance audits, inspections, and remedial actions to address identified issues.
  • Communicate effectively with senior management, stakeholders, colleagues, and team members, allowing collaborative working across all elements of the production process.
  • Identify & action training requirements in order to develop skills and succession within the department.
  • Provide up to date and accurate KPI information as required, ensuring the timely provision of all required data reporting.
  • Understand and adhere to Company policies and procedures which are relevant to both the site and the working environment.
  • Any other duties as deemed reasonable by your line manager or senior management to assist with the operation of the business.

Qualifications

  • HACCP level 2
  • IOSH Managing Safely

Skills

  • Leadership & Self-motivation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Good people management, developing and training staff as appropriate

Experience

  • Previous experience working in a Management capacity within a Manufacturing facility
  • Experienced in food production, preferable within the Meat Industry
