A well established and reputable criminal defence firm is seeking a dedicated Criminal Defence Solicitor to join its busy team.
THE ROLE: You will manage a varied caseload of criminal defence matters, representing clients at the police station and Magistrates’ Court, with exposure to Crown Court work as your experience develops. The role will involve advising clients at often critical stages of proceedings, preparing cases thoroughly and liaising with counsel, courts and other agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes. There will be opportunities to undertake advocacy and to build strong relationships with clients, many of whom will require clear, practical advice delivered with professionalism and reassurance.
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate will be a qualified Solicitor from NQ level upwards with experience in criminal defence. Duty qualification is preferred, although candidates working towards accreditation will also be considered. You should be confident handling your own caseload, attending police stations and Magistrates’ Court and working effectively under pressure. Strong advocacy, case preparation and communication skills are essential, along with a commitment to providing high quality representation and client care. This role would suit a resilient and motivated Solicitor who thrives in a fast paced environment and is passionate about criminal defence work. You will be organised, proactive and capable of making sound decisions under pressure.
