The engineering department delivers exceptional customer service on a daily basis and has the most customer contact of any department in the business. Your day-to-day contribution will be instrumental in driving continual improvements and cementing our brand's position as the leader of our industry. Although this is a demand-driven role occasionally requiring the need to deviate from a planned schedule, you are backed up by a wider team of service and spares planners to help maintain as much proactivity as possible to keep excess travel and overnight stays to a minimum and spread evenly across the team. Customer focus is very much at the heart of YPS, so investment is and always will be provided to continually improve this where possible. Responsibilities:
- Having the ability to liaise with both customers and colleagues to ensure YPS maintains the customer service excellence that we pride ourselves on.
- Servicing, maintaining, and installing a range of equipment at customers' sites nationwide.
- Attend customers' sites in a timely manner to carry out the tasks assigned and deliver exceptional customer service.
- Respond to customer demand promptly and professionally, working autonomously as well as part of a wider team.
- Install new machines and provide full operator training individually and as part of a team.
- Communicate effectively to liaise with customers both on-site and to help diagnose problems over the phone, the engineering and admin team, and the sales team.
- Participation in training courses, as and when required.
- This post does involve regular travel and overnight stays at short notice, as required.
Required skills:
- Recognised electrical engineering qualification.
- Field engineering experience is essential.
- PLC interrogation experience is essential, in particular Siemens S7/TIA & OMRON.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to be a team player.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Polite telephone manner.
- Self-motivation with the ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines.
- The ability to provide a digital job report on completion of a daily task using excellent English/Grammar.
Location and Package:
Ideally, the successful candidate would live no more than one hour from our HQ in Brighouse, although this is not set in stone dependent on the right candidate. Skill set is more important.
Salary Range: £40,000 - £50,000 dependent upon experience and skill set. This is a salaried position with a company-wide annual discretional bonus scheme. Guaranteed annual review. Contributory pension scheme currently to 3% of salary. 20 days annual leave plus all bank holidays (8) and an annual Christmas shutdown period typically from 21st/22nd December to 2nd/3rd January.
A quality company vehicle (not a van but tax efficient) is provided which is fully expensed for personal use also. Any specialised tools required to do the job in hand. Fully expensed mobile phone for professional and personal use. An iPad is provided for service reports but can be used for personal use also. Generous expense policy with much discretion given as to where to stay if staying away and meals and drinks in the evening. It is important our people are well looked after with good hotels and food. YPS provides a number of paid-for social events throughout the year. 40-45 working hours per week.
