YORKSHIRE NETBALL REGIONAL MANAGEMENT BOARD VOLUNTEER ROLE – APPROX. 5 HOURS PER MONTH TERM – 4 YEARS (WITH OPPORTUNITY TO RESTAND)

Introduction

England Netball’s ‘Adventure Strategy’ sets out a clear vision: To lead a movement, on and beyond the court. To uphold an unapologetic focus on women and girls whilst opening the game for new audiences to belong, flourish and soar. Now we’re looking for someone who wants to help us realise this vision, ensuring the netball family grows and feels they belong across Yorkshire. This is your opportunity to shape the future of netball in our region, enabling the game to truly reflect and welcome the communities around us.

Why This Role Matters

As our Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Lead, you’ll sit on the Regional Management Board and:

  • Help remove barriers so more women and girls can belong in netball
  • Influence strategy across clubs, leagues and counties
  • Work alongside England Netball, our counties and the Region’s NSL Club, Leeds Rhinos
  • Make sure Yorkshire netball reflects modern, diverse communities

This isn’t a token role. It’s a leadership position with real influence.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Shaping and driving our regional EDI strategy
  • Supporting counties, leagues and clubs to embed inclusive practice
  • Bringing fresh thinking and lived experience into board discussions
  • Acting as a visible champion for belonging in netball

You’ll have the opportunity to work with brilliant volunteers across Humberside Netball.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Passionate about equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Interested in sport, community leadership or governance
  • Keen to build experience at board level
  • Ready to bring new perspectives into a traditional space
  • Looking for a meaningful volunteering opportunity with the chance to make meaningful change

You don’t need to know everything about netball. We care more about your mindset, values and willingness to learn. We particularly encourage applications from:

  • LGBTQIA+ individuals
  • People of colour
  • Disabled and neurodivergent people
  • Anyone underrepresented in sport governance

What You’ll Gain

  • Real board-level experience (incredible for your CV)
  • Strategic leadership development
  • Access to training and support from England Netball
  • Networking across sport and community sectors
  • A mentor and full induction
  • Flexible volunteering around work and life
  • Reimbursed expenses

Term: 4 years (with option to re-stand)

Time commitment: Approx. 5 hours per month + 4 board meetings per year (online & in person)
