Great with people, and confident giving clear, practical advice? Well you could be who we’re after to join our team… We’re looking for a People and Culture Advisor to join our People team. If you love helping managers do the right thing, supporting colleagues through the tricky stuff (and the everyday stuff), and you’ve got a good working knowledge of employee relations and UK employment law - you might be just who we’re after.
What we’re all about
You might think of Yorkshire Housing as “just” a housing provider. But we’re here to do more than manage homes - we want people to have a place they’re proud to call home, and that starts with having colleagues who feel supported, trusted, and able to do their best work.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be a first point of contact for managers in your business areas - giving clear, people-first advice and support that helps them feel confident and capable. A big part of your role will be making sure colleagues have a great experience at Yorkshire Housing, whether they’re:
- a new colleague going through change
- needing support with health and wellbeing
- working through something more formal (like performance, absence, conflict or conduct)
You’ll also:
- Coach managers to handle people matters in a way that fits our adult-to-adult, customer obsessed culture (with the right level of support and challenge when it’s needed)
- Help spot patterns and themes (like absence, turnover or culture indicators) and use insight to help improve the colleague experience
- Get involved in business-wide projects that matter - like health and wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, and colleague forums and networks
Who we’re looking for - the main things:
- A proactive, can-do, customer obsessed approach (and yes - colleagues count as customers too)
- Confident, calm communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships at all levels
- Solid experience of employee relations, with a focus on early and informal resolution
- Up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law, and the ability to explain it in plain English
- Someone who can work well independently, but loves being part of a team too
- Great organisation skills and attention to detail (because good record keeping really matters)
Qualifications:
- CIPD Level 5 (or part-qualified) and associate CIPD membership
- Mediation and/or coaching qualification
- Experience working comfortably in an agile and remote environment
What’s in it for you?
We offer an excellent salary of £38,439.98 per year (35 hours a week), plus 26 days annual leave (rising each year to 31 days) and Bank Holidays. You’ll also get a benefits package to suit you, including a health cash plan (claim back on things like prescriptions and eye tests), retail discounts, and our pension scheme where we’ll match your contributions up to 9%. We work flexibly with our hub, home, roam approach, and we’ll support your development with a range of internal and external training opportunities. Your wellbeing matters too. You’ll have access to our wellbeing support package, including a library of free fitness classes, an instant My GP service, and free counselling sessions with a trained professional.
