We are on the lookout for an Information Security Manager to help us keep our data safe and sound. In this role, you will shape and drive our information security strategy, making sure our systems are protected from any online threats. You won’t be hands-on with engineering, but your know-how will make a big difference as you work closely with our Technology teams. Based in our Technology, Insight, and Change Directorate, you will be supporting colleagues right across Yorkshire Housing, all while keeping our Customer Obsessed values at the heart of all you do. We are all about flexibility and teamwork, and we will make sure your input genuinely shapes what we do.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be at the heart of keeping Yorkshire Housing’s data secure, shaping our approach to information security and making sure our systems stay one step ahead of the latest threats.
  • Working with teams right across the business, you will drive our security strategy, set out policies and standards, and ensure we are adhering to best practices—think ISO27001, NIST and more.
  • There will be plenty of variety, from overseeing security checks and audits to running penetration tests and drawing up plans to fix anything that needs fixing.
  • You will be hands-on with risk management, carrying out reviews, sharing what you find, and helping teams make good decisions that put our customers first.
  • You will roll out our security roadmap, collaborate with others to tackle risks head-on, and keep your finger on the pulse when it comes to new threats and ways to deal with them.
  • If there is ever a cyber incident, you will lead the charge on our response, run practice drills and ensure everyone knows what to do.
  • Part of your role will be to lead a small team, work with external experts, support our Business Continuity Plan, and keep everyone informed about security issues.
  • You will also run awareness campaigns and training to give everyone the know-how to keep our data safe.
  • In short, you will be the go-to expert for all things information security, helping us protect what matters most—our customers and our people.

Qualifications:

  • Established Information Security professional with experience of implementing security frameworks (e.g., ISO27001, NIST, Cyber Essentials).
  • Experience of developing and delivering information security policies and procedures, including practical experience of embedding policy across an organisation.
  • Technical risk management and impact assessment skills, including an awareness of security risk mitigation approaches.
  • Knowledge of technical security controls including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint security, DLP, encryption and identity and access management.
  • Relevant Information Security certification (e.g., CISM, CISA, CISSP, CEH, CCSP) or willing to work towards.
  • Practical experience of working in a cyber or information security role across multiple domains.
  • Experience managing the response to information security incidents, including liaison with other teams, senior management and third-party organisations.
  • A thorough understanding of relevant legislation affecting the delivery of IT services (e.g., GDPR, Computer Misuse Act, RIPA).
  • It would be a real bonus if you have a degree in a technical or cyber security-related subject.

What’s in it for you:

  • We offer an excellent salary of £65,000 for a 35 hour week, 26 days annual leave (rising annually to 31 days) plus public holidays.
  • We offer a reward package to suit everyone, including cash plan benefits, retail discounts, and a pension scheme where we match contributions up to 9%.
  • We promote a flexible approach to work with our hub, home, roam approach and focus on your development with various internal and external training opportunities.
  • Our priority is the wellbeing of our staff, with readily available wellbeing support including free fitness classes, My GP service, and free counselling sessions.
