Here at Yorkshire Housing, we’re on an ambitious journey to deliver 8,000 new homes by 2030—and we’re looking for a proactive and detail-focused Development Assistant to help us get there. In this fast-moving role, you’ll support the Land and Development teams, handling shifting deadlines, managing key data, and helping to progress sites from acquisition through to delivery. If you’re ready to be part of something big and make a real impact, we’d love to hear from you.
We believe work is something you do, not somewhere you go so if you want to work for a company who are truly flexible and where you are valued then this could be just what you are looking for.
What we’re all about
You might think of Yorkshire Housing as ‘just’ a housing provider, but we’re so much more than that. Yes, we own and manage nearly 20,000 homes (and counting) across Yorkshire and make it possible for current and future customers to have a place they’re proud to call home, but we’re also all about making a positive difference in people’s lives.
We’ve got big plans to overhaul the traditional customer service offer, build new homes that are truly future-proof and empower our people through flexibility and freedom to do their best work.

As a Development Assistant, you’ll be at the heart of our development process, providing essential support to ensure everything runs smoothly. You’ll be responsible for setting up and maintaining scheme files and checklists in line with internal and Homes England audit requirements. Working closely with Project Managers, you’ll help coordinate information across multiple schemes and ensure key updates are shared with teams like Customer Delivery, Property Services, and Space Homes—especially at critical stages such as planning submissions.
Reporting into our Land Manager, you’ll also play a key role in preparing financial appraisal documents, processing invoices, and monitoring payments. From administering the appointment of consultants and constructors to managing legal documentation and contracts, your attention to detail will be vital. You’ll support the organisation of publicity events in collaboration with our Communications Team and Space Homes, attend scheme-related meetings, and provide general administrative support to the Head of Services and wider team whenever needed.
As part of the role, there will be occasional travel across Yorkshire for site visits. For this reason, having access to your own transport will be highly beneficial.
