Yorkshire Handling Equipment is a family-owned business with over 30 years of experience in the sales, hire, and maintenance of material handling equipment. As we continue to expand, we are looking for a skilled Service Engineer to join our team. We pride ourselves on our "family feel" culture and our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our valued customer base.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Engineer to support our service department. You will be responsible for the service, repair, and maintenance of a wide range of equipment, including lithium and lead acid electric counterbalances, LPG and diesel machines, and narrow aisle articulated forklifts, to name a few.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out on-site diagnostics, repairs, and scheduled maintenance on Diesel, LPG, and Electric vehicles.
- Attending emergency breakdowns with a focus on minimizing downtime for customers.
- Managing your own workload and schedule efficiently.
- Building strong relationships with our customers while representing the company in the field.
About You
You are an organised, professional, and friendly individual with a "just ask" mindset. You take pride in your work and are comfortable working both independently and as part of a supportive team.
Key Requirements
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of hydraulic control systems and electrical/mechanical engineering (material handling experience is preferred, but multi-skilled site engineers are welcome to apply).
- Driver: A full, valid UK driving licence.
- Tech Savvy: Good computer literacy for managing jobs via our service software tablets.
- Attitude: Ability to work under pressure, solve problems on your own initiative, and maintain excellent attention to detail.
