We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wetherby. This is a full-time position initially covering the first two weeks of the autumn term, with a strong possibility of extension and the potential to become a permanent role for the right candidate.

The successful applicant will provide targeted support to children with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) across different year groups, helping to ensure they can access learning, develop confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
  • Support children across a variety of year groups within the school.
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and other school staff to meet individual learning and behavioural needs.
  • Help create a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
  • Promote pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
  • Adapt support strategies to meet the varying needs of individual children.
Person Specification
  • Have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
  • Be confident working with pupils across different age groups.
  • Demonstrate patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Be flexible and adaptable in their approach to supporting learners.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Be committed to promoting inclusion and educational progress for all pupils.

Full-time position, Monday to Friday, in a primary school setting in Wetherby, supporting pupils with a range of SEN needs, working across multiple year groups, with a strong possibility of extension beyond the initial placement and potential for a permanent position for the right candidate.
