About the Role
Being a Payroll Specialist is a varied role where you will be involved in completing different tasks in an accurate and timely manner including:
- Being responsible for processing accurate and timely payroll for all YBS colleagues including reconciliation of all salaries, pensions and benefit GLs.
- Acting as an SME for all technical Payroll related escalations providing resolution in line with policy and legislation.
- Delivering accurate processing and reconciliations of the monthly payrolls and all benefit GL, submissions to HMRC & third-party providers, year-end tax activity including finance reporting and production of P60, P11D and benefit statements ensuring SLAs are met.
- Completing monthly activities including submission of FPS, issuing payslips/P45s, completing auto enrolment duties & uploading pension contributions.
- Providing timely responses to all technical payroll and pension escalations ensuring we are delivering a great colleague experience.

About You
You’ll be an expert in Payroll with experience of end-to-end payroll processing and knowledge of payroll systems, legislation, and best practices. Working closely with the Payroll Lead and colleagues across the business you will drive process improvements that reflect service excellence and ensure compliance with payroll legislation and regulatory requirements. Being an SME you’ll provide advice and support to the Colleagues and People Leaders to enhance the colleague experience. You will need to have a good working knowledge of the complex, interdependent and wide-ranging business requirements of delivering a quality, best in class, Payroll Service, as well as knowledge and understanding of complex pay and condition queries, including pensions, HMRC and other statutory requirements. Being a Payroll Specialist means you will need to have excellent attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to spot process efficiencies and effect changes that benefit the business and colleagues. You will also need exceptional organisational skills to balance the different tasks you will be working on day to day. It would be great to have evidence of continuing professional development and good knowledge in relevant professional area, with membership or working towards CIPP or demonstrable equivalent ability and or experience.
