Our Financial Crime Team works in partnership with our business to protect the Society and its members from financial crime. As a Fraud Specialist in this exciting role, you’ll play an important part in doing just that by protecting the Society from fraud.

About the role

As a Fraud Specialist, the day to day is extremely interesting and varied where you protect both YBS and our customers. Some tasks that you will be responsible for include:

  • Responsible for managing the critical analysis and investigation of fraudulent activity (including mortgage, savings, & third-party fraud) including complex and sensitive cases.
  • Perform transactional verification to protect customers and the Society against risk and loss.
  • Provide timely and proportionate specialist technical fraud advice to colleagues across the business.
  • Support the implementation plans across the fraud and wider Financial Crime Operational teams, to service level agreements and quality targets ensuring an exceptional customer/colleagues experience, protecting YBS and minimising losses or adverse reputational impact.

About you

The Fraud Specialist plays a very important role at YBS! What will you bring to the role?

  • Experience of analysing fraudulent activity, autonomous decision making and meeting regulatory and legislative obligations to effectively protect both customers and the business.
  • Robust understanding of financial crime regulations and legislation, specifically fraud related, but with sound AML knowledge.
  • Experience of using fraud prevention systems such as National Hunter or CIFAS.
  • Awareness of financial services industry, markets and competitors.
  • Effective communication, engagement and influencing skills.
