Are you looking for your next step forward in your finance career? We are looking for a Technical Accountant to join the team and take responsibility for our hedge accounting portfolios. This is an exciting opportunity to build expertise in a specialist and high value area of Finance. At Yorkshire Building Society, we are committed to strong financial stewardship and effective risk management. Our Technical Accounting team plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of our financial reporting, working closely with Finance and Treasury to support the Society's long-term success.
This is a hybrid role, working from home along with one day per week in our central Leeds office (increasing around half year and year end).
About the role: As a Technical Accountant, you will support the accurate and effective application of hedge accounting across the Society. You will work closely with colleagues in Finance and Treasury, developing a strong understanding of the Society's exposure to interest rate and currency risk. You will:
- Prepare monthly hedge accounting journals and ensure correct treatment under relevant accounting standards
- Produce quarterly and annual reporting on derivatives and hedge relationships
- Support Finance and Treasury with the accounting for interest rate and FX exposures
- Assist in the assessment, design and implementation of new hedge accounting solutions
About you: What will you bring to the role?
- A recognised accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Strong numerical and analytical capability, with keen attention to detail
- The ability to interpret and apply technical information confidently
- A structured and organised approach, with the ability to work to deadlines
- Experience of hedge accounting or derivatives is helpful, but not essential
