We are looking for a Software Development Engineer Java. You will work in the team responsible for supporting, maintaining and developing changes for the Customer facing Savings & Mortgage websites for our 3 brands YBS, Chelsea and Accord (Java/ Spring MVC architecture). This is an exciting time to join! We have plans to start working on a key upgrade of the technical platform along with supporting a large Faster Payments implementation. This is a hybrid role, a mix of working from home and some time in our Leeds & Bradford offices.
About the role
- As Software Development Engineer - Java, you’ll design, develop, document, and create test automation of software and configuration that delivers value to YBS customers.
- Work on delivering and supporting full stack changes to our transactional websites.
- Perform impact analysis and estimation on requirements and designs.
- Participate and lead peer reviews of documentation, code, unit and integration testing.
- Ensure that system design meets the current design standards, is appropriate for current architecture and meets future architecture and infrastructure requirements.
- Provide out of hours support for services.
About you
- You’ll have excellent knowledge of some of the following software skill sets: Java & Java frameworks, Spring, Web services and XML.
- Experience of integrating new technologies and creating standards of usage within teams.
- Great communicator finding ways for non-technical people to understand technical concepts.
- Strong influencing and negotiation skills bringing people on board to new ways of thinking and working against a strongly regulated financial environment.
Desirable skills include:
- Apache Struts or Spring MVC.
- Consuming and exposing web services in both SOAP and REST.
- XML/XSLT.
- Experience of vulnerability scanning and mitigations.
- Have experience of working within IT support environments.
