YBS is looking for a Technical Lead responsible for delivering Java microservices and APIs for Digital web/app applications and payments processes. This role will be based in our Leeds City Centre office with working from home capability.
What You\’ll Do
You will be accountable for all aspects of technical quality within a squad. Embedded in the squad it is a technical hands-on role that covers:

Technical Design : leading the squad in creating (and documenting) designs which deliver the features to the agreed service levels. You will be creating and adapting the existing products to changing demands, ensuring they remains fit for purpose in a high transaction environment.

Implementation leadership : leading the engineers in implementing the design, balancing work to people, addressing hotspots and coaching as required to deliver.

Release & Deployment : Responsible for deployments and ensuring quality and traceability.

Assurance : Accountable for providing assurance that products are built right, to service levels and follow applicable NFR’s and standards, for example security standards

Application ownership : Accountable for technical debt, service levels and security vulnerabilities for the applications owned within their squad.

Work closely with architects, devOps engineers, product owners, scrum masters and the engineering chapter lead.

Join the out of hours call rota for supporting the Digital products.
How You’ll Do It

Be a great communicator finding ways for non-technical people to understand technical concepts.

Be a strong influencer and negotiator to bring people on-board to new ways of thinking and working against a strongly regulated financial environment.

Have excellent knowledge of Java and Microservices.

Desirable skills include:

Restful Design, working with API Gateway products (Google Apigee or equivalent)

Containers and Container Orchestration – Kubernetes, OpenShift

Logging, Monitoring & Alerting – Grafana, Prometheus, Dynatrace or equivalent

CI/CD Pipelines – Gitlab, Artifactory.

Security (OWASP, Certificates, JWT, Encryption techniques)

Have experience of working within IT support environments
