We’re thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for an AML Manager to join our Financial Crime Operations Team at YBS.
As an AML Manager, you will be responsible for inspiring and developing a high-performing team, playing a key role in driving the delivery of our strategic objectives and overseeing the operational effectiveness of the AML function.
About this role
In this role you will play a key role in protecting both our customers and the Society by ensuring compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements related to anti-money laundering, sanctions, and counter‑terrorist financing. As a control owner, you will also be responsible for driving continuous improvements in our control environment.
You will also be responsible for a team of up to 14, you will manage the team’s workflow within agreed SLAs, with a real focus on quality and risk mitigation.
As the AML Manager, you will oversee the operational delivery of the Financial Crime Team, ensuring resources are strategically allocated to effectively manage AML risks while providing an outstanding experience for both customers and colleagues.
In addition, you will help shape an environment where everyone is accountable for financial crime and raise the profile of the department. You will collaborate other business areas to support their understanding of financial crime in order to mitigate risk for the business.
Alongside this, you will support the high‑risk customer management process and will interact regularly with key stakeholders across YBS. You will be involved in making key business decisions and hold a delegated responsibility for the nominated officer for external disclosures in association with retail mortgage and savings accounts, and commercial and entity investigations.
About you
You’ll need subject matter expertise in AML and Sanctions legislation and guidance relevant to the financial services sector particularly within retail banking or building societies. This should include a strong focus on commercial mortgages, retail mortgages, and savings products. You’ll also bring proven experience in conducting investigations, managing high-risk cases, and carrying out both Customer Due Diligence (CDD) and Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD).
In addition, you’ll have prior experience leading AML teams and driving process improvements within AML operations. Holding an ICA Diploma in AML or an equivalent qualification is essential.
A continuous improvement mindset is key; you’ll be someone who’s always looking for ways to enhance how we work. With excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, you’ll collaborate effectively across all levels of the organisation. Your commercial awareness will also enable you to make informed decisions that balance business impact with effective risk management.
