We are pleased to offer a vacancy opportunity to join our existing dedicated Ancillary-AVP Operative team based at Barnsley Ambulance Station.

Primary Role

Deep clean Front line Ambulance Vehicles at various locations in line with the Ambulance Vehicle Preparation (AVP) requirements and maintain effective housekeeping of garage and associated clinical areas.

Unsociable out of hours payment is provided for this role, including an extra 41% for hours between 20:00 and 06:00, and 83% for all hours worked within these times on Sundays. These rates are on top of the basic salary and are subject to NHS terms and conditions.

Training and Travel

Our training package includes Level 2 Apprenticeship and access to Level 2 NCFE. The role may require travel throughout Yorkshire to other Ambulance Stations during your shift, with transport provided.

Key Duties

  • Process Ambulance Service Vehicles to ensure they are fully equipped and prepared to attend and treat patients.
  • Perform detailed cleaning and Infection Prevention and Control activities.
  • Check and inspect medical and lifting & handling equipment.
  • Restock all consumables and complete vehicle checks.
  • Prepare consumables, manage stock control, refuel, and move vehicles across locations.
  • Record daily activities and manage equipment repatriation from hospital trusts.
  • Work across multiple sites as needed, with transport provided.

No experience is required as full training will be provided, including an initial 4-week training program.

Working Conditions

The working days and times depend on operational needs, including nights, weekends, and bank holidays, with a significant portion of work completed overnight. Night and weekend shifts attract unsocial payments. Holiday entitlement ranges from 27 to 33 days plus bank holidays, pro-rata.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must hold a full UK C1 Class Driving License, confirmed within your application.
  • Must be reliable, conscientious, detail-oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
